I learned about Oruã (Rio De Janeiro, Brazil) "Slacker" through an AllMusic review by Tim Sendra. Doug Martsch from Built To Spill liked their earlier work so much that he asked them to join Built To Spill and made "When the Wind Forgets Your Name". They also toured with the band, and now recorded "Slacker" for Pacific Northwest label K Records.

I can see why Martsch loves them. But Oruã do retain a certain Brazilian flair - Os Mutantes, Irmão Victor and Boogarins all come to mind. But so do The Flaming Lips and Gruff Rhys.
