Christmas in Ratchet and Clank
Ohkay, so I know a lot of people have been talking about how Christmas works in the R&C verse, and I myself was wondering the same; especially since the holiday is approaching us quickly. After a few days of thought, I have come up with a head canon directed towards Christmas in the R&C verse, or as I am calling it, Orvusmas.
So we all know Christmas here, started out as a Biblical holiday, I still treat is as such but others don’t. Christmas was(IS, okay Talwyn reference.) celebrated as the birthday of Jesus Christ, (hence Christmas), our Savior.
Well, you remember when Orvus let the Fongoids use time travel to their own will and they basically ripped the fabric of the universe apart, right? Well who saved them?
That’s right! You guessed correctly! Orvus saved the universe by building The Great Clock to keep the universe functioning properly. So say the Clock has an internal calendar of some sort, and each year it strikes a certain number, say 12, for reference since thats how the month of December is marked. Every year it hits that number that is the month, or how ever time/months/years work in R&C, that is when Orvusmas is celebrated.
The Fongoids celebrated with large parties and gifts, to celebrate them being saved from the very end of the universe. Eventually it was celebrated long enough and it travelled across the universe, till everyone celebrated it.
As for the Santa Claus part, that came to be sort of like ours did. A man went by Santa Claws or a Robot Santa, was giving gifts to orphanages on Orvusmas. Thus parents and others started to associate Santa Claws and Robot Santa with Orvusmas, giving family members and friends gifts to celebrate the season.
I’m sure there’s a lot wrong with this head canon mathematically/scientifically, but thats how I figured the holiday season came to be and is celebrated in the Ratchet & Clank verse.
