Is it just me or is it really weird how people are starting to frame the US right-wing's penchant for misogyny and manifest destiny nostalgia as, like, purely fetishistic and not (also, in many cases, but sometimes probably solely as well) the product of a mixture of bigotry and cultural indoctrination

The thing about diet culture is that a lot of the people who don't come out with disordered eating or a fondness for weird fad diets they found on TikTok instead come out with an instinctive aversion to the words "healthy food" in that order. Basically everyone is running around with their relationship to food somewhat fucked up, it just depends in what direction. And that's really annoying, both in terms of the fact that people deserve to feel normal about something they do several times a day to stay alive but also because it means basically every post about diet or nutrition or whatever the fuck gives me a headache in some sort of direction
I have this theory that along with, like, the ethical and political implications, the incredibly strict rules around interacting with fanfic also just make people meaner on average so the whole thing's counterproductive anyways
So recently my sibling was sent the wrong manga in the mail and was like "huh. This kinda looks like yaoi artstyle" and I'm like. Okay. I want to see what horror of body proportions this is all about. So I trot on over and it's just vaguely moe aesthetics applied to the guys on the cover as much as the girl. So I say "tf are you on about. Where are the yaoi hands. This looks like it's a fucking shōjo manga" and it goes on like that for a while and eventually I end up explaining the african grey parrot post
And they STILL don't get what "yaoi artstyle" is. Task failed
