I have this theory that along with, like, the ethical and political implications, the incredibly strict rules around interacting with fanfic also just make people meaner on average so the whole thing's counterproductive anyways

Do you ever have a thought about a fandom you used to be active in but aren't for whatever reason and go "god fucking damnit my art inspiration is two years late"
The eviller counterpart to "this game has a polarised fandom: half right-wingers who think the things it's mocking/criticising are cool and half left-wingers with hopefully better reading comprehension" is when you enter a fandom where the characters are 90% girls or women and it's like "congratulations! There are three types of person in this fandom: incel, radfem, and everyone else" like come on I just want to look at the funny women can you not
I think it's funny when someone lists a fandom as "big" and it's like five smaller fandoms in a trench coat. Like yes, technically, that is a very big fandom, but do the different corners actually communicate beyond having a passing understanding that the other ones exist
Looked at the random dragon widget on the FR homepage and it was a lovely fellow named "jaundice" who happened to be one specific colour all over and you'll never guess which
There should be a word for the opposite of a fix-it fic where the author retains their love for the characters and continues to choose to provide grace to the vast majority of the cast for their various fuck-ups in the process of being human (or whatever species) but instead of writing out a Golden Ending they choose to make the story go off the rails into a ditch where it catches fire and everyone dies badly
A lot of people just know Bad Apple!! as the Touhou song or the one with the girls and the monochrome or whatever which is kind of funny enough but I think it's even funnier that when you add a bit more info into the mix it's the song primary associated with Elly, thus blowing her actual stage theme clean out of the water because nobody knows jack or shit about PC-98 characters. Imagine having a battle theme but it gets eclipsed not just by your intro theme but by an edgy emo version (and you only show up at the end of the visual). Everyone knows you after you got retconned into questionable non-existence but is it the real you?
There are a lot of things on FR that are logically good for making thread from - fur/hair, various categories of plant fibre, silk, pre-woven goods, and things that are sort of already thread. Unfortunately between the spinning wheel that canonically works on sand; the abundance of nonessential materials like bones, broken glass, and weapons (made of bones) in comparison to various less common, more important, and edible items; and the sheer comedic potential of a halo made of Beef or Rocks; it is highly likely that Sophie simply will not be seeing a single reasonable thread source ever
