“Oi, nerd!” It’s been a long time since Akira has been on Osaka without prior commitments to hanging out with Emi. So she’s pleasantly surprised to see a familiar Sax cap in the market crowd—she waves enthusiastically at Hattori.

... How odd. The other’s aura is -- ah, how should she put it -- a solid chunk stronger than the average person, not to mention rather... erratic, but only in a way that was reminiscent of a flame. But like any source of light, there are shadows cast, and shadows intrinsically woven in...
“Pardon,” she says to him, smiling briefly with the slightest hint of teeth. “Do you frequent this area often? I could’ve sworn I’ve seen you before...”

He’s finally been able to close his eyes: there had been a serial killer, roaming the streets of Beika, and he had been, finally, called in after the third victim. However, by then, the killer had seemed to pick up his stride and left no clues for Shinichi to find, and the clues from the first two crime scenes had already been discarded, erased, left with only photographs from those who seemed to focus on the wrong thing. It had been a long week of endless nights, scouring through photographs and crime scenes alike before he and the police department had managed the serial killer.
So, he’s about to go to sleep, at 19:00, when...his cellphone rings. He debates about allowing the call to go through, knowing that it can’t be Megure-keibu ( as the police inspector told him to get some rest, knowing from the bags under his eyes that he hadn’t gotten any rest at all ), but there’s very few people who have his number, and some of them know that he’s just gotten finished with a case, which means that this could be an emergency.
With a groan, he lifts his face off from the pillow, and answers the phone without checking the caller id. “Kudō.”

Send me a ◈ and I will respond with 3-5 scenarios I’ve thought about or could see our characters in.
1. AH YES post-apocalypse kaito stumbling across the cat and general conversations between the two, assuming they get along enough to regularly chat every now and then – though admittedly apocalypse-kai is a bit iffy in what i can think up without actually putting him through since he’s fairly unstable all around \owo/
2. even normal pankai picking up on something having shifted but not sure what, general probing at heiji via more pranks pointedly directed at him, maybe more verbal jabs and whatnot to try and see what it is that seems off from before
3. apocalypse-kai finds birbs and trains them for magic and grows attached to them and always squinting at the cat when he’s there, all don’t even think about touching the birds just to make sure ( he should learn by now not to make connections because he’s even lost a whole stinking world but no, he’s going to have his heart ripped out every time while he futilely tries to defend that which he loves, even if they’re biRDS )

“Hattori-kun, I didn’t know that you would be in town today.” She hasn’t seen the Detective of the West in a while, actually... Did he have a case to talk to her father about? “What’s the occasion? Did Kazuha-chan come with you?”
