Hey mike, I'm kinda struggling on drawing (well everything) hands, people, and keeping them consistent. Do you have any tips?

Concentrate on one thing at a time with references at hand, this will help you understand better how to construct the thing you’re trying to draw.

Try to spare 30 minutes of your day drawing only one thing (an eye, for exemple) and try to draw many of them as much as possible within that time, but always remember that it’s not about speed, it’s about understanding the underlying structure of the thing you’re drawing. Do this everyday, or at least four or five times per week.

Also, things like drawing challenges are perfect to make you do some training on something. Search for some and take the ones you feel like will help you improve your art. Start from the small challenges then gradually take more demanding challenges, untill you feel like taking on a one-month challenge like inktober or something.

A good and short one is the 8 Minute Drawing Challenge, a challenge where you try to draw the same thing six times in just 8 minutes. It’s a bit high level, but it does help you understand the barebones of the things you’re trying to learn how to draw.

Besides that, search for references, search photos of the thing you’re trying to draw and search how other artists draw the thing you’re trying to draw. Understanding how others do things will help you to figure out how to draw, but never forget to use real life as your primary reference.

Observe everything around you and think about them, their movements, their structures and their shapes. Observe yourself, other people, animals, plants, buildings. Everything is a reference, you just have to be observant enough.
