Nightmare *visibly stressed out while talking to Dust and Killer*: How many times do I have to tell you both that Dream's presence in the hideout isn't bothering me at all?

Dust and Killer *exchanging looks before glancing back at Nightmare with a 'Seriously?' expression*:

Dream in the background *wishing he could be literally anywhere else right now.*

Well at least OSDiff Nightmare will be facing his denial sooner rather than later because of his actions... Unlike some hehe ;)

Ok I know this is my Lunatale account but.... I'm just gonna post up other stuff on here until i make a seperate blog for this-

I saw this fanfic a while ago called One Small Dream by @calcium-cat and wanted to write for it, but didn't know how. Even when I read the series and almost all the drabbles for it. And then....

Cue inspiration for this. Also i went with the explanation in the tags where Dream would fall asleep if Killer took too long lmao.

-Hide and Seek-

Dream had looked everywhere in this huge castle. His head was spinning by running everywhere so quick. Everyone had the good hiding spots. Cross was under his bed, Dust was behind his bedside table where he kept Cyanide, Horror was in the kitchen fridge....

Dream didn't quite understand that part. But, he wasn't about to dwell on it. He had to find a good hiding spot before Killer found him. It was the aim of the game after all.

He raced into a place he normally was not allowed. But the door was slightly open. Then it hit him. No one would dare look for him in here. Nightmare's office, it was the perfect hide!

He scurried over to the chair, only just being big enough to squeeze under it... but the occupant of the chair heard the grunts.

Nightmare flinched as he saw something enter his vision he hadn't noticed come in... only to see his little brother squeeze under his chair.

"Dream? What on earth?-"

"Shh! I'm trying to hide from Kiki...!" Dream cut him off with a quiet hiss like a kitten that had just been scolded.

Nightmare tilted his head. "Hide?.." he asked curiously.

In his head, he could only panic and pray he was wrong. His sensing ability hadn't been as good lately. Maybe all his work had stressed him to a point-

"Yes, we're playing hide and seek.... he's the seeker..." Dream explained.

Nightmare bit back his sigh of relief, "right... but... if he does find you.... you'd be toast.... here...."

Night curled a tentacle by his seat, like he normally would when reading. It's a comfortable way to have them. Dream got the message instantly, slipping out of his hiding place and curling up in the tentacles as Nightmare wrapped him in them to conceal him.

The perfect hide indeed.

Night looked back at his book, continuing to read silently as he thought to himself. Only this time, his thoughts weren't on the others or theories about the book he was reading, but about what happened before Dream got in the room.

Night had been dozing off whilst reading again... he normally did, but he started to see that awful day replay in his memory the moment he did almost fall asleep.

The cut down tree...

The rotting apples...

The betrayal....

All of it had flashed in his mind. But, when Dream entered... that disappeared.

All his life, his 500 plus years of life.... Nightmare had thought he was immune to Dreams aura. Turns out, he kind of wasn't. He could sense it from a mile away if he wasn't so focused or tired. And the type of magic the positive guardian gave off was potent.. but.... it had never made him overly positive... his negativity always balanced with it perfectly.

To normalcy...

Maybe... it was best if Sci didn't make a cure... if Dream stayed like this, or at least grew up like this... it would give them a chance to have an experience they had never gotten before....

Night turned to the golden child in his tentacles after hearing something. Unwrapping the tentacles just a bit, he noticed Dream dozing off. He stirred when the tentacle uncovered his eye, opening it.

"Mmmmnnnn...?.." Dream mumbled.

Night smiled. This is what Dream did if the sun entered his sleeping position back at their old home. He began to hum the song he knew so well, sending Dream right back to sleep. He curled the tentacle back around his little brother, going back to his reading.

The door opened slowly, Killer walking in.

"Hey, Boss? Have you seen Dream? We're playing hide and seek..." Killer noted after his question.

"Dream?.." Night replied, not looking up from his book. "No, I haven't seen him... maybe check his room..."

"I've tried that! Ugh..... I swear if he got into my room somehow-"

Dream stirred, moving the tentacles around him a bit to reveal him.

Killer stared incredulously, before snapping a picture and rushing off. Something about needing to show- NEEDING TO SHOW THE OTHERS?!

Nightmare softly sighed. He knew the boys were just teasing him. But it didn't matter. He hummed the song again, letting Dream sleep in his tentacle nest while he continued to read by his fireplace.

And that's how a game of hide and seek turned into blackmail in the group chat! :3

XD Okay I'm kidding. This was so much fun to write!
