The Oseberg ship was the burial site of two women, presumably one of them high ranking and the other a servant. On a piece of wood in the ship archeologists found the inscription litet-vis maðr (man knows little). Does it signify unearthly knowledge, or does it simply mean "people are dumbasses"? We will never know, but my money is on the last option...

Got enough to do the cuff trim on the klappenrock finally! It’s not the smoothest job, but it was educational and I went straight to lace weight linen for my second project from mercerized cotton and let me tell you, that is a fuckin’ skill jump lol. Worth it, this is home grown and dyed all on one farm, and it’ll suit the wool better than shiny cotton.

This stuff does not slide at all and there’s zero flex. I had to wax it thoroughly so it would slide through the cards and this both helps with the knotting and also makes the tangling worse, make sense of that if you can, good luck.

Strong as an ox though. Had to cut it off the loom because the tension was getting too high to work, so we’ll finish the rest proper Viking style tied to a doorknob and my belt lol. (This is backwards at the moment, the actual setup has the band tied across from you and not the warp threads, but you can do it this way too. Not as smooth and even as loom work though)

ok tried weaving something for the first time seriously, chose to do it in the most hellish way possible (backstrap, but I hold all the tension in the warp with my hand bc I’m stupid), losing my mind and eyesight good night
