The woods at night are calm, usually, but here -- something settles differently. It’s the opposite, just like in Bright Falls-- there’s more than just game here. No, more than just the stray elk and far too common birds. Sure, the hunt for them could be fun when bloodlust needed sating, but it never came close to humans. Yet, coming back to the start, there was something else here-- something not TAKEN and not definitely not human. Something that brought back memories of Fischer... the poor journalist never imagined what he was getting into. Patient Zero.
The Herald follows the odd track through the woods, aimlessly, perhaps. However, curiosity got the better of him. He walks till he hears a rustling and then he takes out his pocket knife, just to be cautious. While in darkness one cannot hurt the doppelganger, it is still unpleasant to be trashed around or possibly injured to the point of his pathetic human skin suit begging for attendance. Sure, it heals with darkness, too... but what a chore! Despite this, the creature emerging from the fauna in front of him freezes him in spot momentarily. Yes, this indeed was a lot like Patient Zero.
