Character ask thingy- Hayden from Unwind

favorite thing about them: his ability to always cut straight to the heart of things, but without it becoming overbearing. like, he’s threading that very fine line of being pretentious and absolutely ludicrous. who would have thought that the guy who once said “spam is my god” would be the most insightful and sensible character of the entire series. neil shusterman, that’s who.

least favorite thing about them: none, he’s actually perfect

favorite line: “would you rather die or be unwound?” hayden?? starting two of the most powerful discussions of morality and life and death in the entire series??? it’s more likely than you think.

random headcanon: gosh it’s been so long since i last read unconfirmed and i think this may actually be canon rather than a headcanon, but i really like thinking that hayden keeps up radio free hayden even after the events of the series and that he just goes off on whatever tangent he feels like for the day when he no longer has to fight for his and all other unwinds’ survival

unpopular opinion: adsknakjdsjksajksadk the unwind fandom isn’t big enough for us to have #Discourse, but i guess i just never saw the appeal of haycon. like hayden is definitely one bi son of a gun, but connor is more debatable and i’ve always liked them more as friends.

In the proposed pilot it says one of them is gay and one of them is bi, but they were both bi in the books? Why the change?

I’ve gotten confirmation from the folks that have the project in development, and both Ty and Zane will be, just like they are in the books, bisexual. Which I’m super happy to hear, and I know a lot of fans will be too.

The wording in the teaser announcement was apparently a mistake that got lost amidst a lot of logistics.

Okay so we just had a large discussion with like 4 people involved and we ended up deciding that in book 1 Whyborne is freshly 27 and he’s turning 29 in book 5 so yes he’s 27 in widdershins
