#my arts #my ocs #oc art #oc: parker #oc: dr chase #off the coast of nowhere #otcon #havin oc thoughts bout these two Specifically....... if i may ramble a bit #i unintentionally gave them some narrative parallels when it comes to their respective backstories #they were both just kids when they were basically left on their own (for different reasons) and eventually picked up and raised by stranger #the major difference is that the people that took in dr chase were. not great! there's a reason he doesn't talk about his childhood lol #so when he met parker he decided to try to be the kind of adult he wished he had when he was her age #he wasn't her primary caretaker but she trusts him implicitly. he doesn't think he deserves it. he has a good reason to think that #anyways ☺✌#with any luck my brain will cooperate enough for me to update soon

in the spirit of Pride Month I've been thinking of different ways my ocs would think about their own gender/sexuality/hangups/internalized issues, and I'm kicking my legs and giggling to myself (deviously) about it.

It would be so, so easy for everyone to have the Exact Terminology for who and what they are, of course, but is that interesting? Is that fun? Does it explore what a character would realistically know about said terminology? Does it explore what a character would realistically know about themselves?

I might know what they are, yes. I may even refer to them as such on my own time. I probably will!

But they don't. They don't know. Like 99% of them would not be in a place to sit down and read about queer history and the variety of labels under the umbrella, they're just riding on gut feelings, societal pressures, and trying not to die in a world 50 years after a magical, earth-shattering apocalypse. They're busy worrying about Other Things right now. They'll think about it later. These feelings will always be there Later.
