OTD chapter 0 thoughts so far: I kind of find the reading comprehension questions/gameplay annoying. I'd rather read a novel straight through and simply satisfy myself with trying to solve the mystery before the answer is revealed. Would make it a lot easier to re-read conversations too, but mayybe one of the genre conventions here is that you can get everything you need from the stuff that gets saved in the in-game notes?

finally finished otd ep 2, I feel like I always get really hyped about the trial because the story beats and The Human Drama is really satisfying. I like how the narration and dialogue can kinda get overwrought in that classic noir way, I really loved the descriptions when mirei entered the scene. also this bit made me lose my mind

otd is really good at hitting something truly messy and ambiguous. like, end of ch 1 when you get the killer and hear motivations, it did get me from pretty clear-cut 'damn did you really have to kill the victim' to 'ok ok ok ok ok like the pathos of the story has been built up such that I am ultimately more sympathetic to the victim but this motive is actually quite compelling I kinda get it'. for end of ch 2 I solidly landed in 'yeah I don't care about the victim OR the killer but yknow even if there's no attachment there's some effective sympathy' and the drama is more outside of the murder case rather than about the case itself... or something. I feel like a lot of the courtroom puzzles are pretty easy and intuitive, but there are some choices where me & sister end up arguing back and forth on it & a couple times we got something wrong. I also loooove the sequences that play when completing one of the puzzles. anyway otd is really good

oh yeah the yuri doesnt show up until the tail end of the prologue but the moment it does it is Radioactive

​we got yuri blasted. the SECOND emily showed up, sister was like. brown hair huh. I feel like I'm usually not compelled by characters like morgan but I guess I've never seen a character like morgan in a protagonist (or, maybe just perspective character?) role with Radioactive toxic yuri

watched sister play 'of the devil', she overheard someone at a con describe a game as 'like a cyberpunk toxic yuri ace attorney-like' and asked for the title. it was an accurate description. I liked it.
