This is a view I almost didn't have. Because we left late (due to a passenger who was using the toilet, of all things! Can't leave the gate while there's a passenger in there) and there were strong headwinds, my half hour connect at Salt Lake became under 10 minutes. As we were waiting to deplane, I shoved my flip flops into my daypack and as soon as I was onto the jetway I started sprinting. We came into the far end of the D concourse and I didn't slow down until I hit the gate at E76, all the time yelling "Coming through! Excuse me!" to people in front of me. At the gate they said the fight a closed but to follow the gate agent to door 23. My seat was gone but they put me in 1A. I sprinted all the way down to 23 and ran out onto the tarmac, where they hadn't yet shut the door! My bag will come on a later flight, but I'll be with @yourenchantedlife in Jackson tonight, which is what's important. BIG shout-out to @kayhendi and the coaches at @otfsyosset for teaching me to push my limits. These are 60lb (27.2kg) dumbbells. I just did chest presses, 10 reps, with them. I've used 50s before, 3 sets of 10, but I wanted to push. I thought of Coach Nick at @otfsyosset saying "I can and I will." I thought of Coach Katrina at @otf_harboreast saying "Grab that heavier weight, even for just a few reps!" And I thought of Coach @kayhendi at #otfsyosset saying "You got this! Come on!" the very first time I did the 50s. I grabbed the 55lb weights. 2 sets of 10 each and it was tough. But I knew that I could give a little more, push a little harder so I grabbed these and lay back on the bench. It was VERY tough, but I got through my 10 reps. This is a new PR for me, and I bet I can go higher still. Got on the treadmill today for the first time since I told @nickpinch at @otfsyosset that I was regretfully going to let my membership go because of my move to #Boston (still miss my #otfsyosset peeps). I'm slower than my fastest #MileRun (where I did a sub-8 minute mile) but I managed a full mile in 8:30! Can get my speed back up to run that sub-8 without @kayhendi encouraging me? A sad day. This morning I went into #otfsyosset to cancel my membership. I've been with them since before the studio opened and I've loved it. Other than when I was with @enchantedsilverworks in Wyoming, I've gotten my #OTF on 3 to 4 times a week every week between #Syosset (and more recently at #otfharboreast in #Baltimore). There's #OrangeTheory in Boston, but it's not super convenient to where we're going to be living and there's a gym in the building where I can apply what I've learned. I have nothing but praise for the workout and staff at OTF, especially @kayhendi in Syosset. They pushed me, trained me, and helped me get faster and stronger. When I started OTF 3 plus years ago, for example, my all-out pace was 7 and doing that for 30 seconds just about killed me. But just recently, I held 12 for well over a minute and I'll always reach for that heavier set of weights. Thank you, OTF. In really needed my #OTF today. It was a strength day with Coach @kayhendi at @otfsyosset. I managed to get there later because I thought for some reason it was 8:15 rather than 8:00. That said, I kept the intensity up. I used 60lb weights for the deadlifts (heavy for me but I did it!). And even more exciting was that I felt great on a 1-minute long all-out at 12mph. So good, in fact, that I kept it up for 15 or 20 seconds past time before I went to walk it out. It was only a few weeks ago that I did my first minute plus at 12mph. And there is is, my last #OrangeTheory workout in #Baltimore for the foreseeable future. It seems like just yesterday that I was standing outside the not-yet-open @otf_harboreast chatting with @tdfit4me and asking how soon the studio would be open and when I could sign up for classes. (Kind of funny, really. I've been involved with both #otfharboreast and #otfsyosset since the very beginning of both studios.) @kayhendi, I guess this means you'll be seeing me during the week at @otfsyosset! Today was an Endurance-Strength-Power day with Coach Katrina. I used 50 pound dumbbells for the chest presses and goblet squats. Heavy, but doable. And for the run-row I kept my push pace runs to 8mph and my all-out at 12mph. It was a great way to finish out my time at #OTF Harbor East. I've never needed to go to #OrangeTheory more than I did today. We've just been through a massive round of layoffs (25% to 30% cuts across the board) at work this week and I just barely survived it. By which I mean I was expecting the axe to fall all day yesterday and I'm honestly surprised that it didn't. I still don't think anyone is safe, but I lost a lot of good colleagues, people I've worked with for years. I was so very stressed out and needed to release it and Coach @kayhendi at @otfsyosset helped a lot. Endurance day, so there were longer blocks. I tried to go for heavier weights on the floor, but I was happiest with the treadmill during the run-row. We started off with a .5 mile run and I decided to go for an 8mph pace (in keeping with my goal of doing the next #MileChallenge at that pace). One thing about pushing your limits is that sometimes your limits push back. My knee was a little cranky this morning in Coach @kayhendi's class at @otfsyosset this morning. But one of the many things I've learned at #OrangeTheory is that you need to #ListenToYourBody. So I didn't go quite as deep on the lunges (although I didn't cut back on the weights). And rather than run at base after the long pushes I dropped to a brisk walk. On the good side I ran all 4 all-outs at 12mph.
