So as I was working on TGAMM drawings, I couldn’t help but notice that some of Brighton’s ghosts had very specific powers that tie into who they were in life… but also made me wonder if they also tied into how they died, especially the irony behind them.
Ezekiel Tugbottom–as a ghost he has the power to turn into a tornado. In life he claimed that he could capture tornadoes (among his many lies) but was actually terrified of them and his sister had to pull him out of them. It could be possible that he died from one such tornado and Sally wasn’t there to save him.
Sonia Davis–this one is obvious. She loved ice-skating, but was obsessed with perfecting her routine even in death. She has powers over ice (and it’s likely she was on her way to corruption as the years passed). It’s possible that she died because she was outside in the cold for too long, due to her stubbornness and refusal to go easy on herself.
Blair–control over TVs. A minor power, but she was obsessed with movies. There’s not much of a connection to how she died with this (since we weren’t told, unless the lightning suggested that she got electrocuted), though she was unable to return her movie before she died.
Then of course we got our main duo:
Molly McGee–As we know, she’s so full of joy and positivity as a human that, upon becoming a wraith, that grants her insanely powerful abilities that are meant to bring happiness, or else change misery into joy.
Scratch–So Scratch is the only ghost that specializes and uses curses (not counting that one episode with Jinx) that are meant to cause suffering most of the time. I think this ties into how he was miserable as a human and didn’t take control of it, while curses are a way of trying to control others and cause misery to them.
Of course, these same curses often backfire on him and actually force him to grow and become open to others. (‘The Curse’ and ‘All systems no’ are examples of this).
