Roaming around in liminal spaces. Walking down the empty hotel hallways, sliding down the colorful slides into the abandoned pools, rummaging around the nostalgic children’s bedrooms, drinking milk in the shadowy freezer aisles of the grocery store, climbing up the desolate softplay indoor playground, napping underneath a single tree in a wide open field...it’s actually quite peaceful.

DEF : For regressors who identify as a monster. First flag — A toddler / kiddo styled, light hearted orientated flag. May it be, perhaps, a fun and silly monster ! Perhaps regressors who are mischievous or simply don’t want to associate with a human “role” for fun / comfort or otherwise. Up for the regressors interpretatio. Second flag — A vent-reg / trauma-reg orientated flag, to depict perhaps that the regressor who identifies as a monster, it is not ( always ) for a light hearted or fun reason. Perhaps it is that they feel they are a monster, something horrible because of their past experiences. Or, they identify as a monster due to the nature of their kins / what they identify as that is related to being under the umbrella of a “monster” ( a vampire or demon, perhaps even someting darker itself ). Colours reflect each of these definitions.
- Make sure they properly brush and floss their dastardly little fangs!
- If they’re feeling a bit nocturnal, give them a bottle or sippy of warm milk. That should soothe their nerves for bedtime!
- Remind them how ferocious and sneaky they are each day!
- Always keep a teether or pacifier with you if they get bitey!
- Take them out for nature walks often, they’ve gotta stretch their appendages somehow!
- Give them many different hiding places throughout your home, they may need some places to prowl and stare at things ominously!
- Make sure to never, *ever* feed them after midnight!
- If they give you something interesting they found outside, they means they love and trust you enough to take care of it! Be sure to repay the favor!
- If you make them upset, you may need to sacrifice something...a bite of your dinner should do the trick!
- Little creatures can sometimes feel like they’re higher maintenance compared to other littles...make sure they know that their little quirks and habits aren’t burdening you too much <3
Sneaking up towards my caregiver...silent as the night. Shadows loom around me, my glowing eyes peering through the darkness as I climb upon the back of the couch. I go to strike, and then...!
“Oh! What are you doing up so late, flower? Can’t sleep? Would you like to snuggle until you can rest again?”
I hesitate, but then quietly nod to them. They pick me up gently like a stuffed doll and hold me close. Even if I’m a monster, I’m still just a cub.
Looking at photos of scary, shadowy monsters or thinking of stories about monsters under children’s beds or hiding in their closets and thinking “...mama?”
