Helping the Wife Field Strip & Clean Her Sig P365 Rose
A few years ago when these pistols first came out from Sig Sauer, I knew my wife would want one. Sig Sauer in collaboration with world class shooter, Lena Miculek put together a program aimed at females. The goal was to provide a female focused avenue for woman to get into shooting and self defense. Sig Sauer obviously having one of the most successful defensive pistol meant for concealed carry, the P365 series, this made perfect sense. Lena Miculek, being a younger female product of her father, Jerry, she was the perfect match for such a program. Once Brownells received some of these Sig Sauer P365XL comp Rose edition variants, I quickly snatched one up for my wife. In addition to the pistol, Sig Sauer came out with a Rose edition Romeo X Compact optic perfectly matched to the aesthetics of the Rose P365 pistol. As soon as these become available, I also got one for my wife as well as a set of Sig Rose Handle It Grips.
My wife fell in love with the pistol, but also with Lena and the program. It’s sad that Lena and Sig Sauer have now parted ways, but luckily my wife had the opportunity to meet Lena for a 1 day seminar up in Raleigh a year or so ago. Earlier this year she was also able to meet up with Lena for a quick chat at SHOT Show in Las Vegas. One thing that my wife also learned about was the newly announced Sig Sauer Rose cleaning kit made by OTIS Technologies. I’ve long been a fan of OTIS Technologies and use their products on a daily basis, so this was a no brainer that once available, I would ensure my wife had one of these new OTIS Cleaning kits but with one caveat… I’d like to teach her to field strip and do a quick cleaning of her P365 Rose pistol.
Once the cleaning kit arrived I was ready to get this party started and spend some time with my wife and her Sig P365 Rose pistol and the new OTIS cleaning kit. Since I also run a Youtube channel, my hope was to provide some instructional help to my wife while all along getting it on video. To say I was nervous was quite the understatement, but I tried to keep it lighthearted and try to focus on the task at hand without making it unbearable for my wife during the process. She was more than capable of doing a simple field strip of the P365 Rose with my instructions as well as cleaning and lubricating the slide, barrel, recoil spring assembly as well as the frame. A simple field strip is just that, simple without the need to tear everything down. I probably took over more than I should have, but sometimes pulling the patches through the bore was a bit tough if enough CLP wasn’t added to the patch before pulling.
All in all it was a fun time. My wife became more acquainted with her Sig Rose P365 from Brownells, how to clean and lubricate the pistol properly and put it back together. The fun part for me of course was spending some time with her!
