Shingen walked into the workspace he and his lover shared. They had agreed that they would spend the afternoon working together on their projects. She on her sewing and he on the new wood-working project he had started.
He smiled as he walked in and his lover was already there. She had her sewing in hand and was humming a tune he didn’t recognize, but he loved the tune regardless. “I see you got started without me.” He said, his tone teasing.
She looked up at him and smiled. “Oh, don’t pout like that. I knew you’d be here soon, Shingen.” She replied. “Besides, I brought your favorite.” She then gestured to a tray that held some of Shingen’s most favorite sweet buns. “Which I haven’t even had a single bite yet because I wanted to wait for you.”
Shingen smiled and sat down beside her, leaning in to steal a kiss from her lips. “You are my true favorite sweet, my love.” He said, giving her a warm smile.
Her cheeks flushed and a happy smile graced her lips. “Shingen…”
He sat down beside her, loving how she always responded to him. Flushing under the mildest of compliments, even though they were sincere. “How is my goddess feeling today?” He asked, lifting a hand to caress her cheek.
She smiled as she leaned into his touch. “Oh, I’m feeling just fine and as happy as ever to be here with you.” She answered. “So, shall we eat our sweets before we get to work on our projects?”
“That sounds lovely.” Shingen replied. He watched as she moved to get the tray. While her back was to him, that’s when he saw it. The red petal on her pearl skin, just where he had left it the night before, on the nape of her neck.
It brought back the memories of how they had spent the previous night. How he had left the mark on her flesh in the moment of passion. How sweetly she had moaned when he’d left the mark…and the other marks she would have under her kimono.
Thinking about the previous night…it stirred his desire. He longed to feel her skin on his once more. To her her sweet cries of his name. Her body writhing in pleasure beneath his, clenching around him as he brought her to the heights of ecstasy.
She turned around with the tray of sweet buns. Her cheeks flushed as soon as she saw the way Shingen was looking at her. She must have felt the heat from his gaze. “Shingen…what’s…”
Shingen smiled as he reached a hand to caress her cheek before sliding down the side of her neck, long fingers brushing against the mark at her nape. “I was just thinking of another sweet I’d rather indulge in.” He replied.
She shivered deliciously under his touch. “Shingen…” She breathed his name, her cheeks reddening.
“Come here, my love.” He told her, drawing her in until their lips met. His tongue quickly delved into her mouth even as she moved, climbing into his lap and straddling him.
Shingen groaned into the kiss when he felt her begin to grind herself against him. He traced his hands over her curves before moving to her sash. He tugged until her obi came undone. He pushed her kimono open so that he could caress her bare skin.
She pulled from the kiss to let out a moan. “Shingen…”
He grinned at her as he traced his fingers over the marks he;d left on her chest, her belly, her collarbones, her thighs. “My darling…I’m sorry, but seeing these marks…it only makes me want to leave more. Only makes me want to hear you crying out for me again.”
She bit her lower lip. She then reached for the sash tying his robe closed and tugged until it fell open. “I want you, too.”
Shingen let out a groan and moved, laying her back on the tatami mat floor and hovering over her. His hands moved over he body even as his lips began to move over her body, down the side of her neck, over her collarbones…to her breasts. He opened his mouth and took in a nipple, his tongue swirling and bringing it to a taught peak.
She moaned and writhed under him. “Shingen…you always…ngh…Oh…Oh yes…”
Her thought was interrupted when he slipped a hand between her thighs, fingers stroking that little pleasure pearl, swirling, stroking, and flicking. Her hips bucked under his touch. “Mmm… you look so beautiful like this my darling.”
“Shingen…” She moaned, bucking her hips. “Oh…gods…yes…I want you…all of you.”
Shingen let out a groan. Hearing her begging for him. Wanting more from him. Wanting him as much as he wanted her. “My love…I can’t resist when you say such things.” He withdrew his hand from her heat, bringing it to his lips to lick his fingers clean. He positioned himself between her thighs, and slipped inside, slowly inch by inch until they were fully connected. Until he was fully buried within her.
She let out a sweet moan as she wrapped her arms around the back of his neck and her legs around his waist. “Yes…Shingen…ngh you always…feel so good…”
He groaned as he held her close, relishing in the feeling of her warm flesh against his. Her body so soft and small compared to the large hardened musculature of his frame. “My love…you are always so warm…so perfect.”
He began to move, starting off slowly rolling his hips. She moaned and began to move her hips with his. He held her close as they moved together, moaning in their shared pleasure. Their lips naturally drew together in countless kisses as their hands explored each other’s bodies.
“Shingen!” She moaned as her body was consumed with the pleasure he gave her, her walls clamping around him.
Shingen let out a groan of her name as he was pulled into his own release. He gave her another love bite to her shoulder even as they both ascended to the height of pleasure together. Her nails dug into his back even as her body clenched around his.
They came down from their shared pleasure, panting and breathless, still holding onto each other. Shingen peppered her face in loving kisses. “My darling…I love you so much.”
“I love…you too…Shingen.” She replied, smiling happily up at him. “So…I take it we won’t be getting much work done?”
Shingen grinned. “No…I think I’d rather spend the rest of the day together…like this.” He replied before sealing her lips with his and moving his hips once again. This was only the beginning.

Together Again
I stood eagerly waiting at the gate, my eyes looking for any sign of him. When I heard the sound of horse’s hooves on the ground, my heart leapt in my chest. A smile naturally came to my face as Shingen came into view on his horse. He looked so incredibly handsome, like a prince or brave knight on his horse.
Shingen smiled as he caught sight of me. He slowed his horse and came to a stop, dismounting and handing his horse off to one of the attendants. As soon as he was free, I rushed over to him, his arms already open and waiting for me.
“Welcome home, Shingen!” I greeted him as I threw myself into his arms, wrapping my own around his middle.
Shingen chuckled warmly as he enveloped me in his embrace. “Perhaps I should go off to more battles just so I can be greeted so enthusiastically upon my return by my beautiful goddess.”
“Oh no you don’t.” I replied, pulling back slightly to look up at him. “While I enjoy greeting you like this, I still prefer it when you’re home…and speaking of battle, you weren’t hurt at all were you?”
Shingen lifted a hand to caress my cheek. “I prefer to be home with you as well, my love.” He told me.
“I notice you didn’t answer my question. Were you hurt?” I asked.
Shingen lowered his voice so that only I could hear his next words, as there were some soldiers and attendants still around. “I did suffer, but I don’t want anyone else to know. Would you mind treating me in our room?”
I gasped as I looked up at him. “Of course!” I replied, taking his large hand. “Come on let’s go.”
It didn’t take too long for Shingen and I to reach our room. Once we did I was instructing him to sit down. “Okay, where are you injured? Let me take care of it.” I said, going to grab the bandages and other first aid supplies we kept on hand.
“My goddess is truly a wonderful one. Wanting to treat me so.” Shingen said, as he sat down.
I turned back to him and walked over to kneel down in front of him. “Where is it?” I asked.
“Mmm…it’s here.” Shingen answered, gesturing to his lips.
“Huh?”
Shingen grinned. “My lips suffered a grievous injury and the only thing that can cure them is a kiss from my one true love.”
I looked at Shingen, blinking in disbelief before smiling and shaking my head. I did playfully bat at his shoulder. “You had me worried! I thought you were seriously injured!”
“Forgive me, but I couldn’t help myself.” Shingen replied, his arms reaching for me and wrapping around me, pulling me into his lap. “Though I do consider my lips missing yours to be a great deal of suffering.”
“Well…mine have been suffering similarly as well.” I replied.
“We certainly can’t have your beautiful lips suffering any longer.” Shingen replied, his fingertips sliding beneath my chin, coaxing my gaze up to his.
Our lips met in a sweet kiss. When we broke the kiss, I looked at Shingen. “Hmm, I missed you, my love.”
“As I missed you, my darling.” Shingen replied, resting his forehead against mine. “I thought of you every night while I was away…and dreamed of you every night.”
“Really?” I asked.
Shingen nodded. “Yes. Every night. I dreamed of coming home to you. Kissing you. Holding you…I dreamed of your legs wrapped around my waist.”
I felt myself warming at his words and how his voice pitched lower as he spoke of how he missed me. I looked deep into those gray eyes, seeing how much he loved me and desired me. I saw my own desire reflected in those gray pools. “Hmm…I think we could easily make those dreams a reality. I mean, we’ve already kissed and you’re holding me…we just have one more thing to complete.”
Shingen grinned at me. “I was hoping you would say that.” He replied, gently pushing me back on the tatami mat floor and sliding his body over mine. “I adore you, my goddess.”
I smiled up at him, wrapping my arms around his neck. “As I adore you, my darling.”
Shingen leaned down, bringing his lips to mine as his hands moved to caress my curves through the fabric of my kimono.
“Mmm, do not tease me, my love.” I told him, wearing a pout.
“What do you mean?” Shingen asked.
I reached and undid the obi at my waist, allowing my kimono to fall open and bare myself before his worshipful gray eyes. “I want to really feel you.” I told him, reaching for his hand and bringing it to my breast, above my heart. “Skin to skin.”
Shingen’s face flushed with pleasure. “My goddess is bold tonight…I rather enjoy it. Nor can I deny such a request.” He said, sitting up to undress himself before leaning back over me.
Shingen pulled me into his embrace, his large frame fully encompassing my smaller body. I wrapped my arms around him as our lips met in a passionate kiss. Shingen’s tongue danced teasingly along the line of my lips, slipping between them.
I eagerly met his tongue with my own, my hands sliding over the strong muscles of his back… good lord was his body amazing?! Shingen’s large hands moved over my body, caressing my tender flesh in my most sensitive of places.
Shingen’s lips moved from my mine to trail along my jaw and down the side of my neck. “Mmm, your skin is as soft as ever.” He murmured. “I’ve missed touching you over these last few weeks.”
“I’ve missed your…t-touch…” I replied, my voice turning to a moan when Shingen’s hand slipped between my thighs to toy with my sensitive bud. His long calloused fingers stroked me in the most skillful manner and perfect rhythm only Shingen could do. “Ah…Ngh…Shingen!”
“How I have missed the sound of my name being sung from your gorgeous lips.” Shingen murmured into my ear before giving a playful nibble to my lobe even as his fingers continued to stroke me, building my pleasure.
“Hmm…Shin…gen!” I moaned. “Mmm…I want…more…I need you…” I pleaded wanting to be as close to him as possible,
“I cannot deny the pleas of my goddess.” Shingen replied.
“Besides…we have to…make your dreams…come true.,.” I told him, giving him the most alluring look I could.
Shingen smiled at me, removing his fingers from between my thighs. He positioned himself between my legs. Shingen’s hungry lips captured mine, his hot tongue diving into my mouth even as he plunged his cock into me, filling me completely.
I responded, my legs wrapping around his waist, and my moans spilled into Shingen’s mouth as he filled me and overwhelmed my senses. In this moment, Shingen was all I could see and feel, he was the very air I breathed. His hands roamed over my body and his lips left mine only to trail over my neck.
“Mmm…I love worshiping you, my goddess.” Shingen murmured into my ear. “You always look so beautiful, but I especially love the way you look when I make love to you.”
“Mng… Shingen…I love you.” I told him, my voice a moan.
“As I love you, my goddess.” Shingen replied, kissing lovingly over my neck and chest, all while continuing to thrust into me.
My hips bucked of their own accord, meeting each of his thrusts. I wanted nothing more than to keep being close to Shingen. I indulged in the loving pleasure that Shingen readily shared with me. I could feel the white hot heat building up inside me as Shingen continued to make love to me.
“Shingen!” I moaned as I felt that coil that had been winding tight finally snapped, sending me into pure bliss.
Shingen let out a groan of my name as my walls clamped down on him, pulling him into his own release. His hips slowed before stopping, him remaining inside me. His forehead rested against mine, gray eyes gazing into mine with such love and desire.
He kissed me gently, lovingly on my lips. “I love you.”
I smiled up at him. “I love you, too Shingen.”
“Now…let me continue to love you. We have a lot of missed time to make up for.”
I smiled at him, lifting my hand to caress his cheek. “Only if you let me love you in turn.”
“Happily, my angel.” Shingen replied, before kissing me once again, our long passionate night only beginning. We would spend the night drowning in our love and passion for one another.

Chapter 37
A week had passed since Shingen’s surgery. Dr. Sato had given us the wonderful news that Shingen’s tumor had been benign. I was thrilled by this news as was Shingen. Even better, Shingen was being released from the hospital! Granted we still had to make a few followup appointments to be sure Shingen was healing okay and there were no signs of the tumor coming back or any new tumors growing. The doctor was confident there wouldn’t be, but we still had to come back to be sure.
Given the timing of the appointments, this would keep us in the future for a minimum of six months. While I wanted to get back to our home (and I know Shingen did as well), I was excited to get to share so much of my original time with him. I had a spring in my step as I made my way to Shingen’s room, a small bag of clothes for him in my hand.
“Good morning, my angel.” Shingen greeted me as I walked into his room, wearing another flowy sundress.
“Good morning, my love.” I greeted, walking over and giving him a peck on the lips.
“Your smile looks especially radiant today.” He said, lifting a hand to caress my cheek.
“Well, I do get to take you out of here today.” I replied. “Which means you’re healing up well.”
Shingen smiled. “And it means I get to sleep with you in my arms tonight.”
I grinned. “There is that.” It had only been a handful of nights I had been allowed to stay at the hospital with Shingen. Most of the time they shooed me out when visiting hours were over. And since his surgery, I hadn’t dared even sit in the bed with him, afraid I’d hurt him.
It was then that a nurse was coming in. She was removing Shingen’s IV and unhooking him from all of the monitors he’d been attached to during his stay. Shortly after she finished and left, Dr. Sato was coming in to give us Shingen’s discharge instructions.
“Alright, Mr. Takahashi, how are you feeling?” He asked.
“Pretty good.” Shingen answered. “And rather excited to get out of here.”
Dr. Sato smiled. “I can imagine.” He said. “Just remember to take things easy. I know you are used to a higher activity level, but you should slowly work back up to that. Your body is still healing. Nothing too strenuous for a few weeks. Though do keep walking and moving. We don’t want blood clots to develop. Your incision should be close to being completely closed up, but still keep the area clean and dry to keep away infection. Be careful not to reopen it as well. Then we’ll see you back here in two weeks for your first followup.”
“Don’t worry, I will make sure he follows all of those instructions.” I said.
The doctor gave us more instructions and we had to sign a few forms, then we were free to get Shingen out of there. I was pulling the clothes I had brought for Shingen from the bag. I explained what I had brought for him, a pair of black basketball shorts, a white t-shirt, some boxers, socks and the sandals he had been wearing when we arrived. I was good at figuring out most clothing sizes…but shoe sizes were a bit more difficult.
“These are some more comfy clothes. I figured since you’re still recovering, we’ll just head back to the apartment and just have an in-home night. We’ll watch some movies and I’ll make us a nice dinner and some chocolate chip cookies.” I told Shingen, when he finished getting dressed, looking incredibly handsome even in such relaxed clothing.
“These are pretty comfortable.” Shingen replied. “Are you sure you don’t want to go out? I’m feeling pretty good.”
“Shingen, you’re still on pain medication.” I replied. “Also Dr. Sato just said you have to take it easy. And there is nothing easier than cuddling up at home on the couch and watching some movies.”
Shingen smiled. “I still don’t understand what these movies are, but I like the sound of cuddling up with you.” He was then wrapping his arms around me and pulling me into a hug.
I smiled as I reveled in that hug. “Alright, let’s get going. I’m ready to get you home…well our temporary home anyways.”
Shingen smiled. “I am looking forward to it.” He said, kissing me on the forehead.
We left the hospital, hand-in-hand. I happily led Shingen to the apartment building and to our apartment. “Now it’s nothing fancy or anything, but it will do for what we need while we’re here.” I said as I unlocked the door. “Welcome home, Shingen.”
Shingen smiled as he stepped inside and looked around the modern apartment. While I had been spending every spare moment I could at the hospital over the last week, my grandmother had brought over some of my old things. So I had been able to decorate the place a bit.
“I like it.” Shingen said. “It feels…like you.”
I felt my cheeks heating up. “Alright, now let me give you the grand tour.” I told him, as we took off our shoes. “This is the living room area here. This table and chairs marks the dining area. This is the kitchen. Down this little hall we have a linen closet here and then this door leads to the bathroom and then here is our bedroom.”
Shingen’s gray eyes swept over the room, taking in everything. It honestly made me a little self-conscious and worried. Did I clean it well enough? And what does he think of my decorating I wonder? I mean anything has to be better than the sterile white of the hospital room he’s been in for so long now.
“I like it. And I like that this bed is definitely big enough for the two of us.” Shingen said, giving me a rather seductive smile as he wrapped his arms around me and pulled me close.
I giggled as I returned the embrace, wrapping my arms around his waist and resting my head against his chest. I could hear his heartbeat beneath my ear. That was a sound I would never take for granted. “It has felt too big without you.” I replied. “Cuddling that spare pillow isn’t the same as cuddling up with you.”
“How can one person be so adorable?” Shingen asked before his fingers were slipping beneath my chin, tipping my head back before planting his lips on mine.
I parted my lips when I felt the prodding of his tongue, allowing the kiss to deepen. How did he always taste so sweet? We were both panting by the time we broke the kiss. I smiled up at Shingen. “I love you.”
“I love you, too.” Shingen replied, his hand stroking my cheek.
I was in danger of being swept away in those seductive gray eyes. Getting swept up in the fact that he was out of the hospital and we were in the bedroom we were going to be sharing over these next few months…
“Are you hungry? I was thinking you’ve been living off of hospital food for so long now that I would make us a really nice dinner. A full spread.” I said.
“You don’t have to cook.” Shingen replied.
“But I want to.” I replied, my cheeks reddening a bit. “I…I like the idea of cooking a nice romantic dinner to enjoy with my husband.”
“Well, I can’t refuse an offer like that, then.” Shingen replied, kissing me on the forehead.
We exited the bedroom and went to the kitchen. I had told Shingen to make himself comfy on the couch, but he said he wanted to help me in the kitchen. Though really all he did was stand behind me, arms wrapped around my waist as I cooked for us. He would occasionally kiss the side of my neck.
“Mmm, it smells good. I’m not sure if it’s the food or you.” Shingen said after placing another kiss on the side of my neck.
I let out a giggle. “I wonder if you’ll say the same once I start on the cookies later.”
“What are these cookies you’ve mentioned?” Shingen asked.
“They’re a delicious dessert. One of the best sweets ever made.” I answered. “Though the best part about them is that you can eat the dough before you bake it and it’s just as delicious.”
“Hmm, sounds good.” Shingen replied. “Though I thought you were my dessert.” He was then peppering more kisses along the side of my neck once again.
I was giggling. “You’re incorrigible.” I said though I was happy to have Shingen and his doting affection.
Once I finally got dinner finished we were sitting down to eat. “This is delicious.” Shingen declared after his first bite. He then proceeded to eat the meal with gusto.
I smiled, my cheeks flushed pleasantly from the compliment on my cooking. “I’m glad you like it.” I could see why Masamune loved to cook for others.
Shingen reached across the table and took my hand in his, bringing it to his lips and pressing a gentle kiss to the back. “I think it is all the more delicious for being made by these beautiful hands.”
I grinned, my cheeks flushing further. “You exaggerate…you flirt.”
Shingen kissed my hand again. “I can’t help it when it comes to you, my love.”
We finished our dinner and then we were back in the kitchen, working on the cookies. “That dough smells delicious.” Shingen said.
“It tastes even better.” I replied, dipping my finger into the bowl and scooping up a bit of the dough. I held my finger up to Shingen’s lips. “You should try it.”
Shingen smiled seductively at me as he parted his lips and took my finger between them. I could feel his tongue sliding sensually over my finger, swirling around it. His gaze held mine as he thoroughly licked my finger clean.
“Mmm, that is delicious.” Shingen said, still grinning after he had released my finger.
I couldn’t think of a response. I was melting from the way he looked at me and the way his tongue had swirled over my finger…reminding me of the other things that tongue was capable of doing.
“Ava, are you alright?” Shingen asked, lifting his hand to caress my cheek.
“Fine.” I replied. “I just…we have cookies to finish baking.” I was then turning back to get things ready.
Shingen chuckled as he moved to stand behind me, his hands going to rest on my hips. He was then kissing my neck just as he had while I had been making dinner. “I still think you might be sweeter.”
Somehow I managed to get the cookies baked. I got Shingen to settle in on the couch and had a plate of cookies. “I’m going to put on my pajamas and then I’ll settle in with you and we’ll watch a movie.”
“I look forward to seeing your pajamas.” He said, grinning at me before picking up a cookie.
I felt myself flushing once again. “You better not eat all of those cookies while I’m gone.” I teased.
“I make no promises. They’re delicious.” Shingen replied.
I giggled and then headed to change. I took off my sundress and bra and slid into a pair of cotton pajama shorts that were pink and white striped and a white tank top. I then headed out to join Shingen in the living room.
Shingen’s eyes widened as I came out of the bedroom. He was setting the plate of cookies off to the side and opening his arms up for me. “Come here, my angel.”
I giggled as I sat down by him and nestled into his arms. “I take it you like my pajamas?”
“I like all of the clothes you’ve been wearing since we’ve come to your time.” Shingen replied, his hands beginning to run over my legs. “All of your clothes have been so…revealing. I like them.”
I giggled. “Why did I have a feeling you would?” I asked, grinning up at him.
“Because you know me so well, my love.” Shingen replied, leaning in to give me a peck on the lips.
I smiled at him. “Alright, we should get this movie going.” I declared grabbing the remote and flipping on the TV.
“You said these movies are like plays that have been recorded to be watched over and over, right?” Shingen asked.
I nodded. “Yup, that’s the gist of it. And we use the TV’s to watch them…and I think we should start with one of my favorites, The Princess Bride.”
“A favorite? Well, then I definitely have to pay attention to this.” Shingen said. “What is it you love about it?”
“It’s a love story with adventure and fantasy. A dashing rescue. The works.” I answered.
Shingen smiled and hugged me tighter. “Then I think I will definitely enjoy it as well.”
We snuggled up on the couch and I found the movie and got it playing. Shingen kept his arms around me the entire time we watched the movie. He would turn his head every so often to place a kiss on my forehead or the top of my head. But he was definitely paying attention to the movie.
“A very romantic story indeed.” Shingen said once the movie had finished. “I can see why you like it so much.”
“What did you think of it?” I asked.
“A good…movie.” Shingen answered. “I liked it.”
I smiled happy that he had enjoyed one of my favorite movies. “Why don’t we watch another one?”
Shingen smiled at me. “As you wish.”***
I may or may not have melted right there. I leaned in and gave him a peck on the lips. “How can one man be so perfect?” I asked after pulling away.
“I am far from perfect.” Shingen countered.
“Well, you’re pretty perfect for me.” I replied. “Quoting my favorite movie. Being so sweet and loving and affectionate. Always making me smile and laugh. Your kindness. I could go on all night.”
“As could I about you, my angel.” Shingen replied. “Though I would rather show you my love in another way.” He was then pulling me closer, his large hands beginning to wander over my curves. His lips on my neck.
I giggled. “Shingen…you just got out of the hospital.”
“Yes, and I am feeling perfectly well.” Shingen replied, nipping at my ear.
I shivered. “Shingen…you heard the doctor…he said nothing…strenuous…”
“There is absolutely nothing strenuous about loving my goddess.” Shingen countered. He was then moving, pulling me into his lap. He’d had to twist his torso…and I saw him wince.
“What was that?”
“N…Nothing…” Shingen let out in a partial groan.
I put my hands on either side of his face. I could see the pain in his eyes. “As much as I would love nothing more than to make love right now, I’d really rather you not hurt yourself.” I said. “You just got out of the hospital…you just had surgery a week ago. Major surgery at that.”
“You are…probably right.” Shingen admitted with a resigned sigh. “But once I have made a full recovery, I plan to worship my goddess properly for taking such good care of me.”
“And I won’t stop you then.” I replied, grinning. “Let me go get your medication.” I gave him a kiss and then returned with the pain medicine and a glass of water.
After that, Shingen and I settled in to watch another movie, all cuddled up once again. By the end of the movie, we were heading for bed, the medicine making Shingen drowsy. Once we had climbed under the covers, Shingen’s arms were wrapping around me and pulling me close.
I nestled into his embrace, my head resting against his chest. I could feel his warmth and hear his heart beating beneath my ear. I could breathe in his scent. “I love you, Shingen.” I murmured as my eyes slowly drifted closed.
“I love you, Ava.” Shingen replied.
We both fell asleep quickly and slept quite soundly wrapped up in each other’s arms. Having Shingen was definitely better than any pillow.
It was the next day, Shingen and I were finally able to go out and enjoy our planned date. He’d had a couple of things to take care of first, but he got them taken care of quickly and we were out and about.
“Where would you like to go first, my love?” Shingen asked as we exited the palace.
“I could go for a snack.” I answered, pretty much having my heart and stomach set on the tea house.
Shingen chuckled and brought my hand to his lips. “Of course, my angel.” He told me. “Perhaps I should keep you pregnant. Your sweet tooth rivals mine now.”
I giggled. “I don’t know about that keeping me pregnant part…though it really hasn’t been too bad so far.” I admitted.
Shingen chuckled. “Also you look quite adorable.”
I blushed. “You’re just saying that because I’m your wife.”
“And because it’s true.” Shingen replied, releasing my hand so that he could wrap an arm around my waist and pull me close. “You are the most beautiful woman in the world and I think you get even more beautiful every day.”
I smiled, happy that Shingen loved me so much. “Well, as long as you always think so, I think I can accept that.”
Shingen gave me a quick peck on the lips before we resumed our walk. We soon arrived at the tea house and Shingen helped me to sit down on the bench. We decided to order an assortment of sweets and some tea to go with them.
When the food arrived, Shingen insisted on feeding me…and making sure I had the lion's share of the food, which I didn’t realize until it was mostly gone. “Did…did you even get enough of that?” I asked, my cheeks reddening, once I realized I had eaten most of it.
Shingen chuckled and kissed the top of my head. “Yes. Besides, seeing that smile on your face while you were eating the food was even more filling than any sweet could ever be.” He was then kissing my forehead.
I smiled at him. “How are you so sweet and perfect?”
“Oh, no that’s you my love.” Shingen replied.
After we finished up at the tea house, we started walking through the town. Checking out the shops…and of course, Shingen was looking to buy me any and everything I wanted. I had to keep him from buying a few items, though I had a feeling they would eventually find their way into my sewing room.
Meanwhile some distance away…
Kennyo hid in the shadows, watching as Shingen and Ava made their way through the town. Stopping at the tea house and then going about the shops. He knew there was no way that he would get near the princess with Shingen at her side…something he was certain Shingen was aware of and why he had accompanied his wife into town.
Kennyo had known Shingen for years. He had known Shingen to have a love of women…all women. He’d never intended to settle down. Never intended to marry or have a family. Even if deep down in his heart, that was what he had really wanted. Kennyo knew this. And Kennyo knew why he had chosen to live that way.
And yet…here Shingen was married. He even seemed to be a perfectly doting husband. Kennyo noticed the way that Shingen moved with his wife, holding her hand or keeping an arm around her waist. He was affectionate with her. It appeared she truly had charmed the charmer.
He continued to watch them, unable to stop himself. That was the moment he saw the princess from the side view. His eyes widened. “She is…with child…”
Kennyo wasn’t sure what he felt at this moment as he realized this new information. Shingen was having the life he had always denied himself. Kennyo couldn’t help but to wonder what exactly had changed? He soon found himself watching them even more…seeing the genuine love on Shingen’s face whenever he looked at his wife. He watched him place a hand on her belly and practically beam with joy…Kennyo could only assume the baby was kicking.
Some part of Kennyo, a part he had buried deep, knew that Shingen deserved this. That part of him…that part of his heart he had tried to hide, was happy for his former friend. It was a bit later that Kennyo happened to catch a glimpse of her face.
“That…that’s that woman from those years ago…” He muttered to himself. He recalled seeing her lost and afraid in Azuchi…about to be attacked and something had compelled him to step in and help her. She had thanked him profusely even after he had lectured her…and she had even found him again later and given him a handkerchief she had made as a token of gratitude. A token he still carried.
“Master…”
Kennyo turned at the sound of the familiar voice. “Ranmaru…”
Ranmaru smiled at him and then turned to look at Shingen and Ava. “They make a lovely couple, don’t they? And I bet the baby is going to be so cute.”
Kennyo turned back to them and nodded. “Yes, I suppose….what are you doing here?”
“I had a feeling you would be close by.” Ranmaru answered. “Now that Lord Shingen has returned to Kai, I mean.”
“What about Nobunaga?”
“He doesn’t know anything.” Ranmaru answered. “I asked him if I could come visit Lady Ava. He agreed that that was a good idea.”
“I see.” Kennyo replied.
“I will go visit her…but I just wanted to know you were safe, Master.”
“I…I have a lot of thinking to do.” Kennyo replied.
Ranmaru smiled. He hoped that seeing Lord Shingen moving on like this would help him to realize he needed to do the same. He had hope for his master.
Little did any of them know…there was another watching them from afar. Hidden deep within the shadows almost as if he lived there.
“Tch…I just found my ticket to blow all of this ta hell.”
After parting ways with Ava, Shingen headed out, exiting the palace. He had the letter he had received tucked away. He pulled it from his kimono one more time to confirm the location and then heaved out a sigh.
“I hope something good comes of this.” He mutters as he makes his way into the town.
Shingen wove through the streets, shops, and homes of the people of Kai. He exited the town and made his way to the small brew house on the outskirts of town. This place was one of the least busy places in Kai, but it still had its fair share of regulars.
The proprietor greeted him at the door, a smile on his face. “Ah, welcome my lord. Your guest is waiting for you in the back room.”
Shingen smiled. “Thank you.” He replied and then headed to the back room. A sense of nostalgia filled him and he couldn’t help but to feel a sense of hope as he made his way back to the familiar room. Memories of meetings years ago flooded his mind, sharing drinks with his friend in this very same place.
“You came.”
Shingen looked at the familiar scarred face of the man before him. “You’re here and I didn’t see any signs of a waiting trap.” He replied.
Kennyo sighed and motioned for Shingem to take the seat across from him. “What good would it do me to set a trap for you in your own domain? Especially when I know the staff are part of your spy network.”
Shingen chuckled as he sat down across from Kennyo. “That could be all the more reason for a trap. Lulling me into a false sense of security.”
The brew house owner came in then, bringing a bottle of the house brew and placing it on the table with two cup before bowing respectfully and walking out. Shingen poured the drinks for the pair. The cups remained on the table though as neither man took a drink. The former friends and confidants clearly no longer held the same trust they once did.
“I know you didn’t ask for this meeting for old time’s sake.” Shingen said after a moment. “What is it you want, Kennyo?”
“I want in on your plan.” Kennyo answered.
Shingen looked at the monk, puzzled. “What plan?”
“The plan to take Nobunaga’s head finally. You have the perfect setup and the perfect hostage.” Kennyo answered.
Shingen glared at Kennyo. “I have no such plans and I certainly have no hostage.”
Kennyo glared right back at Shingen. “You married the Oda princess. Why else marry her other than to use her as a hostage? That’s usually the point of such a political match in the first place.”
Shingen felt anger flaring up in his chest quickly. “No. That is not why I agreed to the alliance and the marriage.”
“So, what you’re truly allied with the devil king? Why did you even let me go that day if you were only going to betray me now?” Kennyo accused.
“I let you go because I believed my friend was still in there somewhere.” Shingen replied.
“The man you knew died years ago, sacrificed to the flames.” Kennyo replied. “All that remains is a demon of revenge and I will have it by any means necessary.”
“You’ll get no help from me.” Shingen replied. “And you will certainly not use my wife.”
Kennyo looked at Shingen carefully. “After everything he did, how could you agree to an alliance?”
“Because revenge won’t heal the wounds of the past.” Shingen answered. “YOU were the one who taught me that. You used to teach forgiveness…”
“That is before I learned that some things are unforgivable.” Kennyo replied. “I will have my revenge and I will not let you or anyone else stand in my way and I will use whatever means necessary. Hand the princess over to me…”
Shingen stood from his seat. “No! You Will NOT be using my wife as a hostage!” He roared.
Kennyo rose to meet Shingen’s gaze. “You have fallen for the siren’s song, haven’t you? You always were weak to women.”
Shingen glared at Kennyo. He did not like the way Kennyo spoke about Ava. “Leave. Leave and don’t you dare ever come back.” Shingen snarled. “If you ever even think of coming for my wife and using her or speak about her in such a way, not even our past friendship will be enough to save you.”
Kennyo glared at Shingen. “You…I should have known you would be weak to a woman.” He then got up and left.
Shingen heavily sat down on his cushion and heaved a sigh, a heavy feeling settling over his heart.
“Is everything alright, my lord?” The brew house proprietor asked.
“Yes.” Shingen replied. “I’ll be having some orders sent out soon.”
The man nodded. “Of course, my lord.”
Shingen stayed at the brew house a bit longer. He no longer trusted Kennyo. He would have to make sure Ava was protected further just in case. But he didn’t want her to worry about it. So, he would have his Mitsumono guard her. They could do it without her knowing.
After organizing his thoughts, Shingen rose from his seat and then headed back to the palace. Though he just couldn’t shake the heavy feeling in his heart. He instantly headed for the room he and Ava shared.
He found Ava sitting in their room, fresh from her evening bath. She was sitting down, toweling her hair dry. She had her lotions and oils on a tray off to the side, ready for her to use on her skin and hair once she had finished drying off. Her night robes were slightly askew, showing her legs and her chest. Her bath warmed skin, glowed under the moonlight shining in through the open window.
She looked up at him as he slid the door open and closed. A smile appeared on her face. “Welcome home, Shingen.”
Shingen smiled at her as he walked over to her, kneeling beside her and pulling her into his arms. He kissed the top of her head. “I love hearing those words from you, my love.”
Ava’s arms were instantly around him. “Shingen…is everything okay?”
Shingen held her a bit tighter as self-deprecating smile came to his face. He should have known she would be able to tell something was up. He had always been so good at hiding things and yet with Ava, he couldn’t. Yet he still didn’t want her to worry.
“Yes, everything is fine, my angel.” He answered, pulling back and kissing her forehead. “I just wanted to hold you.”
She eyed him skeptically for a moment. “It has to do with that meeting that came up, doesn’t it?”
Shingen chuckled and lifted a hand to cup her cheek. “Well, that meeting did interrupt our date plans.”
Ava leaned into his touch, something he adored. It was as if she couldn’t get enough of him just as he couldn’t get enough of her. She lifted one of her hands to the back of his, holding it against her cheek. Her green eyes met his gaze.
“It’s clearly more than that. Something happened. Something you’re not telling me because you don’t want me to worry.”
Shingen was honestly struck dumb. Had he really become that easy to read? Was he slipping? “How…”
“I know you.” She replied.
Shingen chuckled to himself once again. Of course. Over their time together, Ava had gotten to know him better than anyone else. This is what it meant to truly share your heart with someone.
She was now lifting her hand to cup his cheek. “Now, are you going to talk to me about it, or are you going to make me drag the information out of you?”
Shingen laughed. “I’m tempted to have you drag it out of me just to see what interrogation techniques my goddess will use.”
Ava sighed and shook her head. “Shingen, we’re married. Talking and sharing each other’s burden is part of that you know. I want you to talk to me so I can help lighten your load even just a little.”
Shingen had trained for years to be able to hide anything and everything he could. So no one could discover a weakness. And yet here his beautiful wife was, tearing every defense he had ever put up down.
“And besides, I know you don’t want me to worry, but if you don’t tell me, I’m just going to be over here imagining what it could be and making myself worry ten times worse than if you would just tell me.” Ava added.
“Alright, my love. You have won.” Shingen replied, pulling her close to kiss her forehead once again. “But while I talk, allow me to help you.”
She looked at him confused. “Help me with what?”
Shingen smiled and reached for the lotions and oils she had set aside. “Why with these, of course.” He knew her routine and quickly moved, holding her legs in his lap and grabbing the bottle of lotion she used after her bath and he began to gently massage it in.
Ava quickly seemed to relax as Shingen’s hands and fingers worked the lotion into her skin. She sat silently, waiting for Shingen to begin speaking.
After a moment Shingen sighed and then began to tell her the feelings buried deep in his heart, even as he continued to massage her legs and feet with the lotion. “You recall Kennyo?”
Ava nodded. “The monk who hates Nobunaga and wants revenge on him…for admittedly a very valid reason.” Ava replied.
“You know about what happened?” Shingen asked.
Ava nodded. “Not in great detail. But Hideyoshi informed me of the gist of it. Which he mostly did because Mitsuhide was going to tell me every gorey detail.” She explained. “I’ll admit, it gave me some…not so great feelings for quite some time after I heard it. But in my time here no one person can be defined by a singular act that they commit. Nor is any singular person entirely good nor entirely evil. Seemingly good people can be capable of doing terribly evil things when pushed for a plethora of reasons and seemingly evil people can be capable of performing acts of good and kindness.”
Shingen nodded. “That is very true.” He continued to rub the lotion into Ava’s skin as he talked. “Before that…Kennyo was a kind man. One of the kindest I had ever known and…a dear friend.”
“He’s the reason you went after Nobunaga in the first place.”
Though Ava’s words weren’t a question, Shingen still answered anyway. “Yes. I watched my friend become a demon of revenge hell bent on taking Nobunaga’s head by any means necessary. For a time, I thought if I helped him, I could bring him peace and bring him back. But in the process I lost my own home and my ability to protect my people. I still tried to fight him after that..but it still only cost more. Revenge and war and fighting only begets more of the same.”
“So, that’s why you agreed to the alliance and everything that came with it.”
Shingen nodded. “Yes, I learned the true cost of revenge…and I believed I was running out of time to be able to do anything to protect my people. Then it seems once I learned that lesson, the divine saw fit to bless me with you and the life we have.”
Ava smiled. “Well, I’m glad we have that now.” She replied. “So, from the start of this conversation, I take it, that Kennyo is the one you were meeting with?”
Shingen nodded. He then leaned over and pressed a delicate kiss to Ava’s lips. “Yes. He made it clear that he still wants to take Nobunaga’s head.”
“And he wanted your help.”
Shingen nodded as he moved back to massaging Ava’s legs and feet. “Yes, but you don’t have to worry. I don’t plan on going back on my word on the alliance.”
“I wasn’t worried.” Ava replied.
Shingen looked up at his wife. “Oh? Is it because you know me so well?”
“Pretty much, yeah.” Ava answered, smiling at him. “You’re a good and honorable man, Shingen. I know your word means something.”
Shingen smiled. “How did I ever get so lucky as to be blessed with you?”
Ava smiled right back. “I’d say I’m blessed to have you.” She replied. She then looked at him. “There’s still more though…with Kennyo I mean.”
Shingen nodded. “Yeah…I let him go after the meeting. I should have imprisoned him but…”
“You still can’t help but to hold out hope that the kind man you once knew is still in his heart somewhere.” Ava finished for him.
Shingen nodded. “Yeah.”
“I think you’re right.” Ava answered.
Shingen looked at her confused. “How would you…”
“You know I’ve lived in Azuchi for a few years before we met.” Ava began.
Shingen nodded. “Yes.”
“Well, when I first arrived everything…kind of scared me. As you saw when we went to the future, this place is so…different from my time.” Ava began to explain. “I ended up wandering into the wrong part of town and got myself lost and all turned around. I was cornered by some men who…we’ll just say had ill intentions towards me.”
Shingen watched as Ava shivered from the memory. He instantly wished he could have been there to protect her when this incident happened.
“I let out a scream for help…and Kennyo ended up showing up and protecting me from the men.”
Shingen blinked in surprise. “He did?”
Ava nodded. “Yes. I ended up with a small cut on my arm from the incident, but Kennyo treated it and then walked me back to the safe part of town. He gave me a stern warning about wandering around by myself. You should be more careful, young lady. The world is dangerous and full of demons who want to devour the innocent.”
“That…that does sound like Kennyo.” Shingen replied.
“Granted this happened with neither of us knowing who the other one actually was.” Ava replied. “If he had known that I was the new Oda princess, maybe it would have been different. But I was just some girl who needed help and he didn’t hesitate to step in. So, I think the Kennyo you once knew is still in there.”
Shingen smiled. “Thank you, Ava.”
“For what?” She asked.
“For letting me know it’s okay to still hope.”
Ava smiled and moved so that she could give Shingen a kiss on the cheek. “If you ever forget, I’ll always remind you.” It was then that she got a funny look on her face and her hand went to her stomach.
“What is it? Is something wrong?” Shingen asked.
Ava shook her head and a smile came to her lips. “The baby is moving.” She was then reaching for his hand and bringing it to the spot on her belly she felt the baby moving.
Shingen soon felt the little thump beneath his hand and he couldn’t help but to smile. “You’re both reminding me.” He said.
Ava smiled. “Yes. We’ll both be here to remind you that there’s always hope.”
They stayed there a moment, both of them just feeling their baby kick and move. Shingen still couldn’t bring himself to tell Ava that Kennyo had wanted to use her as a hostage. He still didn’t want her to have that worry. He would be sure she was protected. And he would hold onto his hope.
Fingering, PIV, marking, a bit of a demanding and possessive Shingen
Chapter 43
Shingen and I arrived home at the apartment and got into our pajamas. My pajamas consisting of one of Shingen’s t-shirts. Shingen was wearing a pair of boxers and a t-shirt. Shingen grinned as he opened his arms for me. “Isn’t that the shirt I was just wearing?” He asked as I settled in on the couch beside him, nestling into his embrace.
“Yes…it smells like you and it still has your warmth, too.” I replied, my cheeks reddening.
“How can one person be so cute?” Shingen asked, hugging me tighter and kissing me on top of the head.
I smiled as I snuggled closer, resting my head against his chest. “I’m sorry about how dinner went tonight.”
“You don’t have anything to apologize for.” Shingen told me. “Speaking of, how is your hand?” He asked as he reached for my hand, the hand I had slapped Touji with and brought it to his lips, placing light kisses over my fingers.
“My hand feels fine.” I answered. “I’m sure Touji’s cheek will be bruised tomorrow though.”
“That’s the least he deserves.” Shingen replied, still peppering my hand with warm and soothing kisses.
I laughed and shook my head, though it was a dry humorless laugh.
“I’m sorry I didn’t step in.” Shingen said. “I didn’t think he would go that far. You must have been scared.”
“I was maybe scared for a second.” I admitted. “But…more than anything I’m just upset that someone I thought was a friend…never really was a friend. He always had an ulterior motive. It just makes me think back on every kindness he ever showed me…everything I thought was a gesture of friendship…wasn’t.”
Shingen hugged me tighter. “I’m sorry that you had to deal with that, my love.” He said, kissing the top of my head.
“Of course, all of this also just makes me appreciate you even more.” I said.
“How so?” Shingen asked, a curious look on his face.
“Well, for one thing the respect you’ve always shown me from the beginning of our marriage.” I answered. “I mean, even though we were married, you’ve never rushed me or pushed me into anything and let our relationship develop at a pace as I was comfortable with.”
“I’m glad you feel that way.” Shingen replied. “Though I admit, once I saw you it was hard not to try even harder to sweep you off your feet.”
I giggled. “Wait, that wasn’t you trying?” I asked with a grin. I stretched up to kiss his cheek. “Still, I’m grateful for it all. I’m also amazed at how maturely you handled the situation tonight. Letting me handle everything…also honestly Shoko being the one to drag him away probably made the lesson stick a little more for him, that he’d gone too far.”
“Probably.” Shingen agreed. “Though, my angel, your opinion of me might be too high.”
“Why do you say that?” I asked, looking up at him.
“Because from the moment he decided to go in and confess, every part of me was screaming for me to tear him apart for trying to make a move on my wife.” Shingen confessed, an intense… almost feral light in those gray eyes and his voice coming out rougher.
Something about seeing the usual mature, calm look of Shingen’s face crack and give way to that feral light…it did something to me. My heart picked up its pace and a needy warmth began to grow low in my belly. “Oh?” I found myself asking, a bit breathless.
Shingen lifted a hand, his fingertips tracing along my jawline. “Seeing and hearing another man try to steal the woman I love…I didn’t care for it. The only part I liked was when I heard you say you still picked me.”
“I’ll always pick you, my love.” I replied.
Shingen smiled. “I’m glad to hear that.” He said. “But still…I wasn’t a fan of that situation. I wanted to interrupt, rip him away from you, and then take you in my arms…erase every trace of him from you.” As he spoke, Shingen’s hand traveled from my jaw, along the side of my neck, fingertips dancing over my collarbone.
“I-is…that so?” I replied, breathless, that needy warmth slowly turning into a strong ache.
Shingen nodded as he leaned in, his lips going to the side of my neck to kiss there. My body responded of its own accord, tilting my head to the other side to allow him easier access. “Yes… I know it’s not very mature of me…but I…I found myself thinking…mine…wanting to make some visible claim that warns other men to stay away…”
“I…certainly…wouldn’t mind.” I found myself saying.
Shingen’s lips twitched up into a grin against my neck. “My goddess is too kind and generous with me.” He murmured before sucking hard on the side of my neck.
A gasp slid past my lips as every nerve-ending in my body came alive.
Shingen pulled back after a moment, gray eyes taking in the mark he had just left on my neck. He lifted his hand, fingers gently tracing over the mark he had just left, sending a hot jolt through me. He smiled at me as our gazes met. “I love that look on your face.”
“What…look is that?” I asked.
“The look that says you want me as much as I want you.” Shingen answered, before pulling me in for a deep kiss that took my breath away. His hand was slowly sliding up my thigh, calloused fingers sending thrills straight to my core.
We were both panting by the time we broke the kiss. God, how handsome and sexy he was. How I easily became putty in those very large and capable hands. As I looked at Shingen’s handsome face, flushed with desire, I suddenly remembered myself. What am I thinking? Shingen has only been out of the hospital for a week!
“Ava.” Shingen spoke my name with such desire. “I can tell what you’re thinking.”
“What is that?”
“That you’re worried for my health.” He replied, smiling at me. “But I can assure you, my angel, I feel perfectly fine. And it would cause me greater pain to not make love to you tonight.”
My breath caught. He was looking at me with such desire and intense need…and honestly it would be painful for me to stop at this point too. I was so weak to this man. “Well…we can’t have that.”
Shingen smiled at me. He was then scooping me up in his arms as he rose to his feet. “I was hoping I would be able to convince you.” He said as he took long strides to our bedroom, making it there in no time.
“I don’t think I could ever deny you, Shingen.”
Shingen smiled at me as he gently laid me back on the bed. “That is very good information to have.” He said as he climbed on top of me.
I smiled up at him as I wrapped my arms around him. “As if you didn’t already know.” I replied before pulling me towards me for another kiss.
Shingen’s arms wrapped around me as his body slowly sank closer to mine. He didn’t put his entire weight on me, but enough that it was a rather comfortable pressure…I felt so tiny with his large frame over me like this, but oh so safe.
Our kiss deepened as Shingen’s tongue slid past my lips to twist and tangle with my own. His hand slid up my thigh and under the hem of his shirt I wore. He gave a gentle squeeze to my hip before sliding his large hand up my stomach. I gasped into the kiss when his hand made its way to my breast, calloused fingers toying with my nipple.
I slid my own hands over his body, wanting to touch him. “Hmm…these…clothes are…in the… way…” I got out between kisses as I tugged at his shirt.
Shingen grinned at me, leaning back to pull his shirt off over his head. I sat up and he was helping me pull the t-shirt off, before I fell back onto the bed. He was down to his boxers and I was down to a little scrap of black lace panties.
“I really do love the clothing you wear in this era.” Shingen said, his fingers tracing along the lace waistband of my panties before slowly sliding down to rub at my sweet spot through them, the texture of the lace fabric adding a thrill to his touch but also frustrating me at the same time.
I pressed myself further into his hand. “Mmm…Shingen…” I moaned, reaching my hand to fondle the growing bulge in his boxers.
Shingen groaned at my touch before leaning over me once again and pressing himself close as we shared another passionate kiss. I wrapped my legs around his waist and began to grind against him, desiring that friction.
Shingen groaned as he trailed his kisses from my lips to the side of my neck. “You make…it so hard…to take my time…my love…”
“That’s…the point.” I replied. “Shingen…I want you…just as much…I want to feel you…in the deepest parts of me…to be drowning in you…consumed by you…”
It seemed my words stole what little self control Shingen had. He yanked his boxers off and tore off my lace panties…turning me on even more. I loved the way Shingen always loved me…but this…this intense need and desire…this power…well it was hot and I quickly found myself enjoying it all the same.
Shingen took my legs, putting my ankles on his shoulders as he slipped himself inside me. I moaned as my body stretched to accommodate him…it always felt so good. He kissed my ankle before sliding his hands down my legs, holding onto my thighs as he began to thrust.
“Shingen…” I moaned at the feeling of his powerful thrusts. My back arched and Shingen’s hands slid from my thighs to worship more of my body.
“You’re so…beautiful, Ava.” Shingen groaned as he continued to thrust into me. “I love…seeing your face flushed…with pleasure…and hearing you cry out my name…”
“Shingen…ngh…you always…know…OH…yes…” My sentence got lost when he slipped a hand between my thighs to stroke that little pleasure pearl as he continued to thrust. He always knew just how to touch me to bring me the most pleasure.
I could feel that coil winding tighter and tighter before it finally snapped, sending me over the edge. “SHINGEN!” I cried out as my release barreled through me.
Shingen groaned my name, but didn’t allow himself to finish. He moved my legs, changing our position, pushing my legs so that my knees were up by my chest. He leaned forward, pressing closer to me. I had barely come down from my pleasure high when he was thrusting into me again, his hands roaming over my body.
Over and over again for the night, Shingen moved my body into position after position, bringing me to my climax over and over again and yet denying himself release. I’d lost count of how many times he had brought me over the edge before finally joining me.
Afterwards, Shingen fell into the bed beside me, gathering my trembling body in his arms and holding me close. He kissed me on the forehead as he gently brushed sweat-dampened hair back from my face. “How are you feeling, my angel?” He asked, his voice warm and gentle as his hands.
“Good…” I answered, snuggling closer. “A little thirsty maybe.”
“Let me go get you a drink then.” He said, kissing me on the forehead once again. “I’ll be right back.”
Shingen slowly untangled himself from me and grabbed his boxers and slid them on before going into the kitchen. He returned a few moments later, a glass of water in one hand and a towel in the other. He helped me to sit up and sip the water before gently laying me back down and using the towel to gently wipe the sweat from my body.
I smiled up at him sleepily. He didn’t seem the least bit tired even after all of that. Clearly, he was feeling quite recovered.
“Is there anything else I can do for you, my goddess?” Shingen asked.
“Hold me.” I answered.
“As you wish.” Shingen replied with a warm smile as he slipped back into the bed beside me. He wrapped his arms around me and pulled me to his chest.
I hummed contentedly as I closed my eyes. “I love you, Shingen.” I murmured as I felt sleep slowly claiming me.
His hands were gentle as they moved up and down my back in a soothing manner. “I love you, Ava.”
Shingen felt it when Ava slipped off to sleep. Her breathing became steady and rhythmic and her body practically limp in his arms. He couldn’t help the smile that came to his face as he looked at her sleeping face, illuminated by the moonlight that was coming in through the window. Though Shingen knew the morning sun wasn’t far away as he looked at the clock on the nightstand.
He gently kissed Ava’s forehead and cheek. “Forgive me for being so demanding, my love.” He murmured. “I couldn’t help myself. I wanted to thoroughly love you tonight…I wanted to claim you as mine.”
His fingertips wandered over all the marks he had placed over her body with his lips. All in strategic places only he saw…though some would likely be visible given the clothing of the time. “I am a selfish man for loving such an angel.” He spoke. “I will make it up to you in the morning.”
Shingen closed his own eyes as he settled in with his love. He was about to drift off, when he heard her murmur in her sleep. “Mm…Shingen…I love you…let’s stay together…forever…”
Shingen smiled and hugged Ava tighter. Even in her sleep she was being impossibly adorable and sweet. “Forever.” He whispered before finally falling asleep with her still in his arms.
It had been about two weeks since Shingen had returned to Kai with Ava by his side. Her mother and Yuto had settled into their rooms at the palace nicely. And more importantly, Ava seemed happy. She was already beginning to work on commissions for the people of Kai and establishing a working relationship with the fabric merchant.
Of course, he couldn’t help but to notice when she wasn’t working on commissions, Ava was working on projects for the baby. Clothes, blankets, hats, tiny little socks, and mittens. The tiny items were impossibly cute and always brought a smile to Shingen’s face whenever he saw Ava hard at work on them.
Shingen had, of course, started on his own project for their child. A cradle, like he had seen in the future Ava was from. He had also started making a pair of matching rocking chairs. One for Ava’s smaller frame and one larger for himself. So that they could both rock their baby to sleep.
He didn’t get to work on his projects as much as he liked, but he did still have his duties to attend to. He was also working on these projects in secret, wanting to surprise Ava with them. He could just picture the smile on her face whenever he was working on them. It brought him so much joy to be thinking about the future and planning on it with Ava. The future he had always wanted and denied himself.
“You look like you’re daydreaming again.”
Shingen was brought from his thoughts by Yukimura’s scolding tone as he brought in more reports and missives for his lord. “I was just lost in thought.” Shingen replied.
“Yeah, you were definitely daydreaming again.” Yukimura replied. “Is this about those secret projects you’ve been working on in your spare time?”
“Something like that.” Shingen replied, holding his hand out for the reports.
Yukimura ignored Shingen’s hand and plopped the papers down on the desk in front of him. “Welp, this is the last of my work for the day. I’m supposed to be meeting Saki in town at one of the tea houses. She said she wants to do this dating thing Ava mentioned.”
Shingen chuckled. “Go and enjoy the company of your goddess.”
Yukimura nodded. “Right.” He then bowed to Shingen before leaving.
Shingen looks at the letters and missives Yuki had just laid on his desk. He begins to sort through them when he notices one he hadn’t been expecting. A familiar seal on the letter. He reaches for it immediately and opens it. His eyes scan over the contents and he lets out a sigh.
“It looks like I won’t have time to work on my projects tonight nor have dinner with my goddess.” He muttered to himself as he put the letter aside.
Ava…
I sat with my mom and grandmother on the veranda, looking out at the gardens of the palace as I worked on my latest commission. It had only been a couple of weeks since I’d arrived in Kai, but I was already getting work. That made me so incredibly happy.
Mom and Oba-san had brought some tea and snacks for us to share. Though, I admit I was eating most of them. I’m pretty sure they knew that would happen.
“I still can’t tell if it’s the work or the food that has you so happy.” Mom teased me as she sat beside me, sipping her tea.
“Knowing Ava it’s probably equal.” Oba-san replied from my other side.
I felt my cheeks redden at their teasing. “What about the new expectant mother glow thing?” I asked.
I scrunched my nose up at my mom and stuck my tongue out at her.
Mom only laughed. “You doing that only means I’m right.”
“Hey, it’s not my fault food makes me so happy.”I replied.
“It’s all part of being pregnant.” Mom replied, reaching over and patting me on top of the head. “Or being you in this case. You’ve always gotten joy out of food. I remember when you were little, you would be so grumpy. It was a sign you either needed something to eat or needed a nap. Or both.”
“Isn’t that just part of being a woman in general?” I replied. “Or just being human.”
We all shared a laugh. “So, what are you working on?” Oba-san asked.
“It’s a commission for the fabric merchant’s sister-in-law. He had ordered a piece from me at the festival for his wife and her sister fell in love with it and wanted one for herself.” I answered, smiling. “I’m starting to get some more in as well.”
“That’s wonderful that you’re building up a customer base so quickly.” Mom said, smiling genuinely.
“It was Shingen’s idea for the fabric merchant to order a piece from me.” I said. “His wife has been walking around showing it off. It’s great advertisement for both of us.”
“Shingen really does seem to care about making sure you’re set up for success and happiness.” Mom observed.
“Yes. And let’s not forget all those presents he had delivered to the palace the night of the festival.” Oba-san added.
I felt my cheeks reddening. Even though I hadn’t asked for anything, Shingen had bought me everything I had looked at at the festival. If my eyes had lingered on it for even a second it was mine. “I should have known he would do that.”
“He does seem to love spoiling you.” Oba-san said.
“Yes…it seems he knows you quite well.” Mom admitted.
I looked over at her, raising a brow in question. “Oh?”
“You never ask anything for yourself.” Mom said. “You’ll deny yourself anything because you never want anyone else to feel guilty for telling you no. You developed that trait as a child.”
“What…”
Mom smiled at me. “When you were little…especially after your father first left, you would like something, a toy or candy, but I wasn’t always able to afford everything you wanted. So, you never asked me for anything. But I always knew when you wanted something.”
“Oh…”
“It’s not a bad thing, dear.” Oba-san said. “It’s sweet that you’re willing to be so selfless.”
We continued to talk and eat our snacks, while I worked on the commission. “So, what are you up to tonight?” Mom asked me.
“Oh, Shingen was planning to take me to a tea house in town. He said it’s one of his favorite places.” I answered. “He said that they have some really good sweets that he thinks I’ll like. Then we’ll probably check out some of the shops in town.”
“So a hot date with your hot husband.” Oba-san teased.
I giggled. “Yup.”
“It sounds like you’ll be having a fun night.” Mom said. “It sounds like Shingen really wants to spoil you tonight.”
I was happy to see that it appeared Mom had come around to accepting Shingen. “He always wants to spoil me.”
It was then as if speaking of him had summoned him, Shingen was appearing. “Ah, there’s my lovely wife. And my lovely mother-in-law and Oba-san.”
“And there’s my handsome husband.” I replied, smiling at him. “Did you finish up early?” I asked as I put a loose stitch in my work to save my place and set it aside.
Shingen came over and knelt in front of me, taking both of my hands in his. He had a rather apologetic look on his face. “My love, I have come because I have to beg your forgiveness.”
I looked at him confused. “What are you talking about?”
“I won’t be able to take you out for our date tonight.” Shingen answered, an apologetic look on his face. “I’ve had an unexpected meeting come up. It’s important and I have to take it. Forgive me, my angel.”
I couldn’t lie that I was a little disappointed. I was very much looking forward to our date tonight. But if it was for his work and for keeping Kai safe, I understood. “It’s alright. I understand.”
Shingen kissed the back of both of my hands before turning them over and kissing my palms. “You could be a little more disappointed.” He said, giving me a playful pout.
I smiled. “I am…but I know what you do as a daimyo is important.” I replied. “Besides, I know you’ll make it up to me later.”
Shingen chuckled. “I will.” He replied. “How about I spend all day with you tomorrow? We’ll go out and I’ll get you all the sweets you want. Or whatever else you’re craving.”
“I like the sound of that.” I replied, leaning forward to place a kiss on his lips.
Shingen returned the kiss before leaning in and whispering in my ear. “And then I will end the day by loving you senseless.”
I shivered and whispered in his ear. “If you manage to get back tonight, you can start then.”
Shingen chuckled. “My princess is eager.”
“Just so you two know, we are still here.” Mom said.
“Yes, so speak up.” Oba-san added. “I’m old and can’t hear as well I used to.”
I giggled and blushed while Shingen chuckled. He then turned back to me and gave me another peck on the lips. “So you forgive me, my angel? I am prepared to grovel if necessary.”
“As entertaining as that might be, it is not needed.” I replied. “You have my forgiveness.” I answered.
Shingen smiled and kissed me again. “I will see you later then, my angel. After this meeting I will be all yours.”
I smiled. “I love you.”
“I love you, too.” Shingen replied, leaning in to give me one last kiss. “I’ll return to you as soon as I can.”
“Alright.” I replied.
With that Shingen was off. He gave a casual wave to my mother and grandmother. They returned the wave.
“Well, it seems you are suddenly free.” Mom said.
“Which I think calls for a girls night.” Oba-san said.
“I think that sounds perfect.” I replied, smiling. Though I was disappointed that Shingen had to postpone our date, I couldn’t help but to look forward to spending more time with Mom and Oba-san. Though I couldn’t help but to wish for Shingen ti hurry home so we could at least spend part of our evening together.
