Eliot’s the ex-hunter who doesn’t understand how Hardison so easily makes a pack with him and Parker

He’s still not entirely sure why he didn’t drown Hardison when he had the chance, but he’s glad of it, now. 

(He tried to drown Parker, she just laughed, and flashed deep-sea black eyes at him. They’re neither of them entirely sure what sort of merfolk she is, but have decided she’s just Parker, so maybe it doesn’t matter.)

Hardison is the strongest techno-witch anyone’s ever seen, and Eliot is not his familiar.

Parker is of course usually in her cat form, and purrs and purrs and then attacks your hands if you try and pet her. (Except for Hardison & Eliot, obv. Because they know better than to pet, unless she specifically asks first.)

Hardison is one of those starbucks cryptics who orders the most disgusting flavors with too many shots of espresso or energy powders/drinks add-ins and sometimes he just flat out chugs his doctored energy drink and holds it out for another one and Eliot dies a little inside.

Or a lot.

(Parker drinks either black coffee or the frozen vanilla creme thing that doesn’t have any caffeine in it at all, nothing else.)

OMG so we got “instructor” Eliot with the cooking school episode, but imagine him glaring at you over his glasses after staying up all night grading papers

Parker’s the worst TA ever, all the students are terrified of her, and Hardison’s the university tech support and he’s kind of sad that Parker’s competent enough he doesn’t get his regular once a month swearing phone call from Eliot any more. 

/guess he’ll just have to work up the nerve to ask the guy out? Maybe. Eventually.

Parker is Hardison’s emergency babysitter who shows up to pick up his (adopted! because he knows from Nana, doesn’t he) daughter from school when he’s stuck at work and Teacher!Eliot checks the emergency forms like three times before letting her leave the school because what the hell, he is not at all sure that she qualifies as a safe adult. 

(But bb!girl Hardison clearly knows and adores Parker, so he caves. And is a little jealous that Hardison apparently has a cool girlfriend, but he’s not about to admit that out loud ever.)

Hardison is an old-school bookbinder do you remember him learning how to forge? He does specialty limited editions for Eliot’s small-press.

(They meet Parker at an auction, because they like looking at the old books for ideas for new/old techniques, and she steals them a book so some obnoxious collector can’t hoard it. Non!criminal Hardison/Eliot are simultaneously horrified and charmed.)

Simon is the puppiest werewolf Raphael has ever fucking seen and he can’t, he just can’t actually catch or kill or even properly scare him.

Mer!Simon drapes himself over the side of Raphael’s small boat and tries endlessly to make his new friend smile.

Raphael keeps up a very dour expression, until one day Simon doesn’t show up to tease him, and when Simon does come back the next day he has to admit (out loud and everything!) that he was worried.

After that he lets himself smile every time they see each other.

Sebastian was kicked out of his home after getting bitten, and Adelaide doesn’t really like being a werewolf hunter, but a girl’s gotta eat (and her folks need help keeping the roof over their heads). 

Her last job is the one that sends her after Sebastian; needless to say, she doesn’t manage to catch or kill him. 

Or she doesn’t capture him by Guild standards, anyway :D

/there’s an epic quest to get them both free of the Hunter’s Guild? Carver thinks they’re idiots but also that Adelaide should have quit years ago, and Bethany patches them both up many times because Carver’s not entirely wrong about their lack of sense.

Sebastian goes back to school when he’s rebuilding his life after his family dies, and ends up as Adelaide’s TA and it is the most torturous job because she’s his boss and she’s younger than him and she’s so godsdamned pretty.

He lasts about a second after he’s no longer her TA before he asks her out. They’re engaged and have moved in together in about a month.

Adelaide turns into a stuttering mess at teacher conferences with Sebastian, but luckily he thinks it’s adorable (and honestly isn’t much better). The whole school picks up on it at one of those PTA fundraiser carnival things and there’s a running bet on who will crack and ask the other out first (they all lose, because neither of them crack until the twins are up a grade, and no one else believed in how dedicated to really stupid principles the two of them get).

25. Share any headcanons about their relationship.

Uh. Alessandra and Woodly are “together” and entirely open with each other about all their other relationships until he dies. When she gets the news she considers going into a quite dramatic decline just to watch the rumors swirl about why until she is forced to retire to some out of the way estate and watch every one else politic for awhile, because she’s tired, and it’s lost a lot of its fun without her usual partner. But she decides he’d find that terribly boring, so she throws a very fancy glittering sort of party instead, secretly in his honor.

She does get quite drunk when she’s alone the next night, however. 

26. How important is the romance in your OC’s overall story?

Not... terribly? Like, the fact that my problem princesses are in a situation where they can chose is what’s vital to their personal character arcs, every single one of them. (Even the sad versions where they choose to continue to follow the path previously laid out for them; they still had that chance.). Having most of them find a romantic partner is emotionally satisfying to me, but it’s the fact that they are all grabbing at the chance the Summit grants them to be more than they used to be? That’s the important part. (I mean, their relationships are important, but not because of the story, just because it makes them happy. Or miserable. You know. Sometimes the tears are good too.)

27. What makes you excited about their relationship?

erm. for Alessandra/Woodly just that anyone actually enjoys the disaster? It’s fun when other people watch the train-wreck you’re creating. :D

/also gosh, they’re just really secretly kind of sappy and have no idea what to do with that and it’s HILARIOUS

8, 15, 17, & 25 for Erana/Blackwall?

8. What are their most prominent memories of each other?  

The two first answers I thought of for this are things I still think I’m going to write and post as fic some day, so I’m not sure how to answer them? *laughs*

For a long time it’s dying. Blackwall remembers when she disappeared at Redcliff, Haven, falling to a Terror, drinking from the Well, Corypheus. There’s a lot of fear in him, for her always, not himself. Erana remembers how he looked standing on that gallows, behind the bars of a jail, in manacles before his Judgment. (Which I do have to write some day, it doesn’t quite match the game in my head.) Horror and anger more than fear, in her case, that he let it get so bad, that he kept trying not to say good-bye.

They get over that eventually, but then it turns around the other way, he’s lost to the Wardens and she refused to let him say what if I don’t come back? any time he returned to them after seeing her.

15. Does their view of themselves differ from their partner’s view?

Well. No one despises Thom more than Thom despises Thom, you know? He gets a bit better, after the Judgment, after Corypheus, after the Wardens, but he still recognizes all the darkness he carries inside him well before he sees any of the virtues he’s worked to build around it.

Erana... she’s pretty good at self-assessment? She doesn’t think her mercy is that remarkable, she just doesn’t want to waste someone, you know? Pretty much everyone else disagrees with that.

She also doesn’t think she’s attractive physically, partly because she kinda doesn’t get how attraction works, and partly because it’s not like there’s anything she can do about it? She didn’t do anything in order to shape her cheekbones or eye-shape or the way her lips curl when she smiles, and she only takes care of her hair enough to hide her ear, so that’s way less important than how well she shoots or how many languages she knows.

17. Their ways of expressing their love.

Erana is very touch oriented. Sits close enough she can feel his hips or thighs against hers, touches his shoulders every time she passes close enough, holds his hand whenever she can get away with it, that kind of thing.

Blackwall is prone to the occasional ridiculously poetic pronouncement, the way his heart overflows when she’s near, or the light of her eyes leads him to the future, or the warmth of her voice keeps him safe at night, like... he’s a big dork.

Also giving back-rubs, both of them. Sometimes even purely non-sexual ones!

Sometimes not.

25. Share any headcanons about their relationship.

After they resolve that Terrible Romanced-Warden Epilogue Slide, Erana does convince Thom that he’s given enough, and they find a relatively quiet farmhouse to live in, and be cloyingly domestic in between what the fuck are we doing about Solas? planning sessions.

They have farm-cats. And goats. And an herb garden that she can tend year after year, which never ever gets old, look, I can come back to it and the stuff I planted is still here. 

Which is really the perfect metaphor for her life post-Inquisition, isn’t that a nice note to end on?

9. How open are they with their feelings?

Well, for about four years Adelaide and Sebastian are mutually lying to themselves trying to convince themselves that nope, there are no excessive feelings happening anywhere near here, shh, honest when really they are pretty close to every stupid love-at-first-sight trope that anyone has ever seen.

AFTER they finally both go oops, yeah, totally in love with you they are actually very good at admitting their feelings to each other, though it takes a few years before they’re good at talking about the things causing the feelings. FOR EXAMPLE, they are both sad they cannot get married and have about five babies about two days after they admit they are in love with each other, but do they either of them talk about how they want to have a big large happy family and be together forever?

No, no they do not.

They will admit they’re sad, and they make tea or read books or spar or have lots of sex to cheer each other up, but they do not talk about babies for like another six years.

Because they’re dumb. 

(To be fair, also because Kirkwall Is Clearly A Circle of Hell and who wants to have babies there?)

But also dumb.

11. Do they have any inside jokes?

Cherries. [1, 2] (note: link 2 is #nsfw and like, the second thing I ever wrote about them so it’s a little dated, but. Cherries.)

Yes, I am sure they have more than that, but that’s the only one I can think of atm that I know I’ve written about. They both have healthy (occasionally terrible) senses of humor after all.

/wash behind your ears to get all the evil out is still my fave purple-Hawke line. I’m pretty sure that one makes a couple come-backs over the years too.

1. What drew your character to their LI and vice versa?

Well, for both Blackwall and Solas it was the respect. They both looked at her when she was talking, not the Mark or the shine in her eyes, they both saw Erana not “Herald” (or prisoner or problem or spy) and even with Solas’ Dalish issues, she could tell that they neither of them thought “other” when they looked at her vallaslin. Or, well, they may have thought so sometimes, but they didn’t let that stop them from listening. That’s really it, they both listened to what she actually said, not what they wanted her to say, or assumed she was going to say. 

Blackwall first admired how she so effortlessly saw who he wanted to be rather than who he used to be, saw that same potential in everyone, not just him, and honestly was infatuated with an idealized version of her, this beautiful woman who led so quietly, so honestly, step after step after step, never letting anything stop her.

I feel like I can’t answer the Solas part better than I did in this fic here?

2. What was the first moment that they knew they were in love with their LI?

Erana knew she loved Blackwall, more than just infatuation or fondness, when he tried to stop their nascent relationship before it really became anything once she was back on her feet after Haven and settled into Skyhold.

Because he’d been there every step of the way while she was recovering. Because he was so bad at breaking it off, so clearly had feelings at least as strong as hers and was trying to protect her from him, from them, which was unbearably sweet. Stupid, and she didn’t let him get away with it, but it was sweet.

For Blackwall it was seeing her in the Dales, the Exalted Plains, seeing how much that title of Inquisitor had to hurt, every day, that he started seeing her, seeing how angry she was, how few people she could really confide in, trust in, that he realized how much more was between them than adoration and adulation.That was when he realized he wanted to be Erana’s shield forever, not just in combat, but to protect her from her friends when she needed it as well. (That was when he realized he couldn’t, and tried yet again to back away, but it was too late.) I mean, obviously he’d been in love with her for a long time, but he kept thinking she’d get over it, get over him, and refused to acknowledge to himself how far gone he was until he couldn’t avoid it any longer.

She uh... I’m not sure when she fell in love with Solas? It was such a slow and steady sort of build, long conversations in the tower at Skyhold, stories of the Beyond, in the Beyond more than just the once you see in game, and the unwavering weight of his regard when he sat across a campfire, until she honestly couldn’t imagine a day when she didn’t speak to him. And then he left, after his friend’s death, after she let him kill poor scared children and couldn’t think it unfair, and it hurt. It hurt not that he felt he had to leave, but that he didn’t say good-bye.

But she still in her head just thought friend, Clan, lethallin.

It was only when he came back and Blackwall told her she should tell Solas she was in love with him that she realized it, honestly?

/she hadn’t really thought of herself as romantic in like twenty years, falling in love with two people at once was just WEIRD. 

4. Their favorite physical feature on each other?

Erana loves Solas’ hands. How graceful they are, the spread of his fingers when he talks, the way they tuck in close when he’s painting, so careful, so controlled. And for all she adore’s Thom’s smile, the crinkles by his eyes, the way the light catches in the grey in his hair when his head leans back when he laughts... in terms of like physical attraction it is basically everything that makes him so obviously Not An Elf, the beard and thick wiry hair and the width of his shoulders and the depth of his chest. He’s big, y’all, she can’t get over how much she likes that.

Solas tries so hard not to notice her physical features for so long I’m not entirely sure. He realizes how much he’s attracted to her the first time she pushes her hair back and lets him see the small notch in her ear; it makes her so very real, in a way most of the world still isn’t.

(I feel like Blackwall loves her entirely but his favorite physical feature would be the 100% #NSFW answer of her slick in his mouth and her clit when his tongue’s pressed to it, SO. Um. Sorry? Belated #TMI Tuesday.)
