i’ve been largely silent on social media because I have some big reservations about performative ally type stuff. I hate it, I’ve been guilty of it, and I’d rather contribute to active, direct discussions and donate my time and resources elsewhere.
anyone who’s been a fb friend of mine for the past several years knows that i get super mad when there’s trending “activism” like that time where people were doing the “post a statement about your purse that sounds sexual and but don’t mention the purse! Don’t tell anyone what it means, it’s a secret! This is for breast cancer awareness uwu”
lost my temper big time over that one.
I haven’t been able to be silent lately. I am angrier than I have ever been, and my anger is nothing compared to what Black Americans are feeling. Still, any time something I say gets likes on FB I feel uncomfortable. I know it’s just people agreeing and showing it with a single click, but with my anxiety off the charts it’s just... I dunno.
This isn’t a political post, and not just because I don’t think human fucking rights are “political” but it does mention a charged subject so I will tag it as such. I might even delete it. I just need to vent to bolster myself. It is almost exclusively family that I am pushing back on this and I will not relent. I do have to vent though.
