Ariel being a badass
Ariel in Once Upon a Time
So, I love Once Upon a Time. And I'd love to see Ariel in the show. And I have a couple of theories as to how she may be introduced. Be warned, for those fans who haven't yet seen ANY of season 2, spoilers alert.
Theory one:
Regina mentioned in the episode Skin Deep, (Season 1, Ep 12) "I have a deal to discuss, a certain mermaid" whilst talking to Rumplestiltskin after he forced Belle to leave. Ok, so, what would Regina want with a mermaid? This could suggest that Ariel came to Regina for help. She could've asked Regina to give her legs in exchange for Ariel's voice. Let's say Ariel had three days to have true loves kiss with the prince, to keep her legs and to regain her voice. If she didn't, she'd belong to Regina, forever. (Going off the deal Ursula made with Ariel in the disney movie). Regina could have deceived her, by possibly turning into a younger, beautiful girl, and enchanting the prince into marrying her instead of Ariel. IF Ariel is in the story after this point, and if she failed at kissing the prince, she'll be in Storybrooke. She could be somewhere under the hospital, perhaps in the asylum, like Belle was. Regina could've locked more than one person away. But, if Ariel is down there, she'd be human, due to the curse. The reason Regina could possibly need a mermaid, is to collect the special squid ink that freezes anyone who signs with it, Rumplestiltskin mentions. He said that either a mermaid can get it, or him. And Prince Eric? Well now the curse has been broken, he could be out at sea in Storybrooke, looking for Ariel. Since in the disney movie he was a skilled sailor. I imagine he would be in OUAT.
Theory two: Now Captain Hook is in town, he may be a regular sailor in Storybrooke, and since Cora's with him, she could want that squid ink, too. So, Hook goes out to sea in search for a mermaid. He finds one: Ariel. Cora's on the ship with him. And Ariel refuses to get the ink. Cora offers her a deal, Ariel wants legs. So, if Ariel fetches Cora the ink, she gets legs. Since she longs to be out of the sea. That could happen. But I do reckon Regina's involved with Ariel more than we know, since it was mentioned.
Theory three: Perhaps Ariel was in the part of the Fairy Tale world that was unaffected by the curse, and could be stuck there. And perhaps Aurora and Mulan come across her, and she offers them help? All in all, I think my first theory would be most likely.
