Quote:
“Sometimes the universe is much too beautiful for my own good. Sometimes; you are my universe”.
Summary
A short drabble set during Wendy’s first arrival. Peter’s thoughts.
Note:
Quite a few writers who have used a quote by the poet Christopher Pointdexter have based their Darling Pan fics on the quote “I love her not for the way she danced with my angels, but for the way the sound of her name could silence my demons”. Well, I wanted to base the next two drabbles on a different one of his quotes.
Peter Pan still remembered it as if it were yesterday: the first time Wendy Darling arrived in Neverland. Honey-brown curls, an innocent white nightdress, big brown vivacious eyes. Absolutely beautiful, too beautiful. So innocent, too innocent. Her innocent beauty simply did not fit in Neverland, did not suit it’s boy-king’s ruthless nature. He was the thunder and lightning that came during a storm; she was the calm that came after it. He was darkness; she was light.
As yet, he couldn’t bring himself to push her away. Not as he watched, entranced, as she danced around the fire with his Lost Boys. She was captivating, he was enraptured. Still, he knew; she seemed oblivious.
Her innocent beauty was too much. It simply could never belong in Neverland.
