In Belgium the heat wave continues and this leaves a a guy on holiday (or weekender) with a couple options. This year our cherry tree produced only enough cherries to feed a few Jackdaws, Woodpigeons and Jays... 𝐁𝐄𝐄𝐑: Dekoninck Oude Kriek | 𝐀𝐁𝐕: 6.5% | 𝐆𝐋𝐀𝐒𝐒: St Benoît Tulip | 𝐂𝐎𝐔𝐍𝐓𝐑𝐘: Belgium 🇧🇪 | 𝐂𝐎𝐌𝐌𝐄𝐍𝐓: Wow! This example of aged Kriek is perfect for those who love sour cherries. Unlike many other “Oude” variations of beers out there, this beaut still kept its distinct cherry notes. Also, unlike other aged beers, the sourness does not overpower and become effort-some after each sip. One would assume this is the case due to the Oak-Barrel-Aging of this beer | 𝐑𝐀𝐓𝐈𝐍𝐆: 8.75/10

While our cherries are just starting to color, our neighbor’s cherries are ripe, rich and making nice pickings for the birds... too tempting, wish I was a bird, too, and so my impatience won out, releasing this rich and luscious Intense Red Oude Kriek from 3 Fonteinen.
