The glow from the light of his battery-powered lantern illuminates the dark though it fades within a few feet of his path. In the other hand he clutches the soft, plush paw of his teddy bear and the rest of ‘Teddicus’ dangles limply from his grasp.
The air was bitter and to make matters worse the blond is absolutely petrified by the dark. A camping trip with his friends turned sour when Ziggy lost his way, he had left the comfort of his tent for the only real reason a child his age would: because he had consumed far too much water before bed. Now he was lost.
Unbeknown to him; by now he had wandered far beyond the safety of the campsite. After continuously wandering on and on he became overwhelmed by the darkness and a sinking feeling settled in his stomach when he had come to accept that he was undeniably lost. ❝I think we’re lost, Teddicus!❞
To Zweets’ consternation there is a rustling in the bushes, a salty stream runs down his cheeks and meets just under his chin. He descends into a crouch, bringing his knees to his chest, snivelling. He makes an attempt to hold his breath, what if there was a monster out there, on the prowl? A beast who devours children who go astray in the late hours? Children...just like himself!
Ziggy’s body betrays him as a whimper escapes past his pale lips. Maybe it was Stephanie? Maybe she had been witness to his misguided adventure and she had come to take him back to the tent! ❝Stephanie...is that you?❞
