This is just my personal opinion, but I really don’t think medicine is taught very well. At least not in a way that produces empathetic doctors.

You cram all the knowledge in for 8 years, you do endless tests, you do tons of all nighters to study, you’re often bullied and overworked,you basically have no life outside of school and work, you do years worth of residencies where you’re the pack mule, you get severe student loan debt, your body is severely overstressed.

And then you’re released into the world, caring for some of the most sick and in pain people…

I actually think it’s a miracle that I’ve met so many great doctors. So many kind, caring, comforting, and empathetic doctors. Because it certainly seems like the system is setting young doctors up for failure.
