An Invitation - IC
In her sitting room, Raerys lounged at her little writing desk, morning sun and a warm spring breeze flooding the space through the tall arched windows. The crimson and azure curtains rolled like waves, licked this way and that by the lilted wind. It was a fine morning; early spring had warmed the stucco walls of Silvermoon, the golden glow the sun's rays burnishing the very air. So much had happened in the last few days, the young heiress sat chewing the butt of her pen, as she reflected. Trisandrah had won the day. Her pushing of Raerys to ask for an audition with "The Succulent Tarts," had born wondrous fruit. The whirlwind of introductions, the entirely new social milieu had occupied every moment of Raerys time since. She'd not returned to Belore Loda, nor to Rosewood Copse, even the Penthouse had remained devoid of her person. She'd settled in to the comfort of the Townhouse, glad of the quiet away from her family while she learned to swim in this new pool. Everyone she'd met thus far had been gracious, interesting, creative and most importantly not a member of the Rosewood clan. So many new acquaintances, Raerys already felt a touch overwhelmed. She'd never been the most gregarious of Sin'dorei, but under the new pressures of her social situation, she floundered as much as she triumphed. For every witty comment, there was an equally embarrassing gaffe. Just the other night she'd bolted from a leather goods shop, owned by one of her fellow performers due to her stuttering surprise at the wares. And while all of this had happened, she'd nearly forgotten the chance meeting of a friend to the "Tarts," a Iloam Blacksong, Record Producer and former Traveler. Though their interactions had been brief, they were friendly and led to a discussion of music - to which Raerys (deep in her cups) had asked if he would be willing to trade songs, perhaps share in arrangements or even just play together. There were so few who took a musicological interest in Traveler tunes, that meeting an actual Traveler who also played music and had an appreciation, seemed too great a boon to ignore. So it was, this morning in the relative peace and the precocious delight of a warm spring morning, Raerys set quill to paper and penned the invitation she'd been meaning to get to all week. "Dearest Mister Blacksong, I'd like to invite you by my house at 108 Aran'Arzaahore, Silvermoon City. I will provide tea and scones along with what I hope will be a witty and engaging conversation on the subject of music and on Traveler Tunes in particular. If you would reply by post of your availability for the meeting, I would be most delighted to make certain that refreshments are available. I would only request that you do bring your guitar, as I would very much like to run through a few tunes that I myself have collected over the years. Most Respectfully and Sincerely Yours, Raerys A. Rosewood" She read it through several times, making sure that it conveyed the proper sentiment before singing off and slipping it into an envelope. She addressed it as he'd told her, and smiled as she licked the stamp and pressed it to the top right of the pricey parchment. It was a fine time to take a walk, her correspondence finished, her tea drank and the sun creeping higher in the sky. "I do hope it wasn't too forward, asking for this meeting." She mused to herself, slipping on her shoes as she moved around her desk and made for the long hall to the front entry. He was likely used to performers attempting to get his good graces, considering his business. He was equally likely to have aspiring young artists asking for his time and attention, but she hoped that in this instance he might be persuaded due to the subject at hand. It was that thought that rolled about her thoughts as she made her way to the mailbox and dropped the envelope in. With a smile on her face and a hopeful pat to the box, she lifted the flag and returned to her townhouse, there was still much to be done at home before social engagements took over her afternoon. @ourcollectivefantasy @Iloamblacksong
