[ Pomegranate ]

"Ma'am!" Ratatoskr gives a polite bow, she noticed her from afar and in her attempts to make acquaintances with as many people as she can from this world. Of course, using the pomegranate seeds that were set out to her advantage-- and so far it seemed to be working! That alone made her happy.

"I-Im sorry if this is rather sudden but-- I have this cup of pomegranate seeds and was wondering if you would like it! It... is my favorite snack and I want as many people as possible to try it!"

"I would love that very much! They are one of my favorites, too!" This is the beginning of a friendship, she can tell. They already have something in common and something to share!

Perhaps more than just a shared enjoyment of pomegranate seeds. Deirdre takes notice of the floral elements to Ratatoskr's dress and cannot help but wonder if the other also has an affinity for nature.

"May I ask for your name as well? I can give you mine in return--it's Deirdre!--as well as this bell for your brooch."

At this point she feels that THIS was something she was destined for, to expand everyone palettes when it comes to this! Maybe her joke goal of creating a club might actually come true! Soon everyone can share this.... raw ability !!

"You-!" Ratatoskr pointed at the man "I-I have an offer none have refused yet! Here in this cup I- I have quite the delicacy! You can be one of the lucky ones who get to taste such magnificent treat! and for an extra bonus, we could even trade our decorations! If and Only If you accept my offer" her hand extended out to show the bell, on the other, a small cup of seeds just for him.

”Well I’ll be! You’d have to be one rude kind of guy to refuse such an offer.” Balthus gladly accepts. He stretches out his hand to take the cup offered to him, giving a small shake before raising it to his mouth. She mentioned delicacies, but all Balthus is seeing in here are a bunch of seeds… Not the most fulfilling meal–but still, a free one. Down the hatch they go. He isn’t sure if they’re the type he’d need to spit out, so just to be sure, he crunches down on them to grind the outer shells down, using that powerful jaw to produce a thundering sound. 

“Oh, hey… Not half bad! They’re fruity–real refreshing!” Satisfied with the notes of sweetness that blend with the crunchy texture on his tongue, Balthus offers his bell to swap for Ratatoskr’s. It’s a silly gesture, since they both end up with the same bell, but he doesn’t make the rules around here.

And he’d be content to leave it at that, except one striking fact lingers in his mind: “W-Wait, those were fruit seeds, weren’t they?” 

The beast is suddenly seized by her shoulders and shaken like an unopened gift, Balthus’ face mortified by what he had just eaten. “Aren’t we not supposed to eat those?! I’ve heard a fruit tree’ll start growing inside you if you do!”
