Many hands make light work, and many hearts can make the holiday season special. Thanks to a number of generous community members, and some serious Quaker fundraising successes, we prepared gifts of homemade and store-bought items for 40 local youth. In all, more than 25 folks supported this initiative, in addition to the many, many people who supported our fundraising efforts throughout the year. Oh 5th grade! Lucky me that I got to talk again with my daughter’s class about the messaging (internal/external) we get all the time around us and how that affects who we are. I also took a trip down “bully lane”, and finally, I asked the students to fill in statements about their happiness, confidence, talents and what they want their future to look like in detail! I can’t wait to hear what they come up with.
