Diversity in Comics
Girl geeks have always been here, but good representation of women in comics hasn’t. If Captain Marvel, Ms. Marvel, and Thor have anything to teach us, it’s that women want to buy comics that represent them.
Now that fans and creators have convinced the industry to take a risk and start featuring more female characters, the market is going to shift as we all pour money and popularity into these titles. Which means that these successes are going to pave the way for even more representation in the future.
I can only hope this contributes to a future of better all around diversity and representation.
Everyone should have a superhero that looks like their own reflection.
