the MOST important part of the Times interview with TS about her songwriting is when she admits the line in “Our Song” was originally “talk real low” but she hates when the next word begins with the same letter the previous one ended with, so she changed it to “slow”!!!!
i screamed out loud in my bed, “I KNEW IT!!!!!!!”
this means a lot to me. 😂
there’s something uniquely mine ((and a few others’)) about being someone’s self-proclaimed “biggest fan” before they even dropped a debut album and then watching this person you knew at your core deserved to be a star becoming the actual biggest celebrity on the planet.
it’s surreal.
all that to say, sometimes it does feel like i know this person somehow from having been there from <day One. i can sometimes finish her sentences before she does, and not in a weird, creepy, obsessed way, but simply because i grew up with her ((1989 babies)) every single step of the way. and because she was highly untrained in PR and posted her every thought to her MySpace page and uploaded unhinged selfie videos and i literally learned how she thinks and speaks from all that stuff, like growing up with a best friend and adapting their mannerisms or knowing their thoughts. sometimes Taylor Swift says something these days and i’m just like, “i literally already knew this” not because it was ever made public but because i “knew” her. whatever, i’m rambling, the long interview just got me in my feels a lil. good morning. 😂
