“I gotta get out now while I still can.”
“Em, no...” he sighed heavily, pout only shallowly posted on his face, but his tone unaffected truly. He had seen it coming. Ever since the beginning, he guessed she would be the first to collapse and not handle the magnitude of it. He didn’t even sit up from his chair. “How disheartening. Such a good girl and an essential key to our little project. Our project, Emma. How could you give up years of hard work and passion? I don’t like thinking you’d be easily intimidated or even scared. You clearly can do so. Much. Better than just give in to pressure. What is this childishness even about? No, don’t tell me. I don’t want to hear. It’s irrelevant. Well, I can’t stop you, of course, but every action has a consequence and though it breaks my heart to see you go, I don’t think it’s the last time we’ll be seeing each other even if you take that route. We’re family, Em, and blood draws blood. It’s inevitable. You can’t get out because you never could. None of us can. And we shouldn’t want to. It’s our right. We are right to do that and everything else. I mean... go, if you want to go. I’ll never force you into anything. I’m just sad because after everything we have been through, you’re doing both of us such a disfavor.”
