please always feel free to ask controversial hamster care/feeding/husbandry/breeding questions, even if you don't think you'll be happy with the answer I give. I'd rather start a healthy dialogue and try to understand. I like talking with people I disagree with, seeing their side often helps develop mine, and I hope people will be willing to understand mine as well.

I used to be nutty about care standards the way most people are when theyre new to a species. I've been on or seen or attempted to understand nearly every side of hamster keeping and breeding :)

This cage is no longer in production by Kaytee, the company that bought Super Pet. Other brands have definitely mimicked it, but this post is only about Super Pet and Kaytee.

Vintage/Old Cage Highlight

Super Pet Crittertrail Portable Petite Habitat

Alternate names used for this vintage cage: Super Pet Crittertrail Mini 2

While this may look nearly identical to the modern Kaytee: Crittertrail Portable Petite Habitat, the logo DOES show it to be the original version! As well this cage shows the old style of packaging that used bright green contrasting with a dark purple.

This cage comes with a dark blue hanging drip resistant water bottle, 5" green wheel, and yellow food dish that attaches to the corner of the cage via a small peg in the bottom of the bowl that clips to an opening in one corner. This cage comes with a total of 4 connector ports, two on the lid and one on each solid side, as well as 3 flat port caps. The outer dimension of the cage is 12.5"x8"x10". There is only one door to the enclosure, a small one built into the roof.

This cage was marketed towards dwarf hamsters and mice as a full enclosure, and was recommended as an add-on for gerbils and syrian hamsters.

These aren't my photos! They are from a facebook marketplace ad! I used to have this exact cage but unfortunately lost it in the process of working on a large hamster rescue intake, as i needed the carrier to move animals around to other rescuers.
