are you as emotionally destroyed as I am by the fireside nose nuzzle/kiss to forehead combo???? Because that plus 'do you trust me, Claire' and 'I know that look in your eyes, Jamie Fraser' has left me in a VERY EMOTIONAL STATE.

UMMMM—YES. ALL THE EMOTIONS ARE BEING FELT OVER HERE.

YES. YES. YES. I loved those lines.

All the small, little moments of affection were precious.

I am a complete sucker for a forehead kiss from Jamie. It’s just a simple way of saying, “I’m here and I love you”

I also noticed how Jamie, after their embrace upon her return, kept rubbing Claire’s shoulder. And I squeed.

I’m not going to be dishonest in saying that I have noticed a lack of grand gestures of affection such as kisses, but the affection is there—just more subtle.

Definitly am hoping for more pronounced, intimate Fraser bliss this upcoming season though. I need a Fraser cuddle like the air I breathe.

Maybe you can help me because I can’t figure this out. When Claire asks Jamie to wait on the BJR duel, she says that she has saved his life not once but twice so he owes her a life. For the life of me I can’t figure out what the two life saving instances were. One was Wentworth. Thanks.

Truthfully, I have always struggled with that scene. It just causes me pain to watch Claire cause Jamie that much pain. Obviously I see Claire’s perspective in desiring to spare Frank’s life, but to watch her “cash in” a debt of honor like that to Jamie—it is my second least favorite scene ever shot.

I am going to answer this question from the show’s perspective because I have not read Dragonfly in Amber yet. My answer is going to be based purely off of the reality that the show presents to me on screen.

I think you could discern Claire’s claim of life two different ways:

You could potentially count a “life” when Claire saved Jamie after his gunshot wound. In episode 1x1 “Sassenach”, Jamie suffered a battle injury and did not tell a soul about it. This caused a lot of loss of blood and him to literally pass out. Without Claire there to tend to it, it is safe to assume Jamie could have died.

After Wentworth, Claire not only saved Jamie’s life, but his soul. Due to the extreme trauma that he experienced, Jamie’s physical body was healed by Claire, but his spirit was in acute turmoil. He desired to end his own life. 

In that darkness, Claire interceded for her husband and got down in the pit of despair with him. Helping to pull him out, she saved his life two fold: the ability to live and the will to live.

I interpret Claire’s debt of honor in which she claims to have saved Jamie two times either of those ways—I do lean towards the latter though.

However, this is purely my opinion!!

February 21—What is your all time favorite thing about Book/Season 2?

I love how Jamie and Claire faced unfathomable pain and yet they are resilient through the flames. 

Season 2 is rife with suffering and loss. It is truly not a season for the faint of heart. Jamie and Claire undergo acute trials. 

This is the story of a man and woman who face real adversity; there is no fluff to this fairytale. 

Not only are they dealing  with Jamie’s trauma from Wentworth, but also living in a foreign land which offers endless complexities. It seems as if the chasm between them is growing to the extent that they will never close the gap again. 

Just when they begin to see the light of day, a lightning bolt of unforeseen agony strikes—they lose their firstborn daughter. 

Clinging to each other Jamie and Claire return home to beloved Scotland. The death of their child only forges their bond closer than ever before.

But then the largest blow of all hits—they must separate in order to save Claire’s life and the life of their unborn second child. They must continue on without their anchor. 

Yet despite it all: the tears, the heartache, the despair, the agony—Jamie and Claire’s love only becomes all the more beautiful. 

It does not break them; it makes them stronger. 

Even in the fire, I will love you still.

GOODNESS GRACIOUS SAKES ALIVE. I CANNA HANDLE IT.

If you notice, rarely do we see Jamie & Claire simply hold one another like this in bed. Often what the viewer is privy to between them is a wee bit more physically involved (hehe) or one of them wakes up to the other gone. Hardly ever do we catch a glimpse of this type of interaction between Jamie & Claire on screen.

But oh.

This moment is one of my absolute favorites. Jamie comes home and Claire cradles him in her arms holding him there—never wanting to ever let him go. They completely melt into one another in peaceful bliss.

TOO SWEET. TOO PRECIOUS. TOO TENDER. AND IT MELTS MY HEART INTO A PUDDLE.

I don’t think so.

LOOK AT HIM. LOOK AT THIS PRECIOUS MAN.

This face.

But beyond his handsomeness, this MOMENT. This is when Jamie feels Faith kick in the womb for the first time. He gleefully reacts and then leans over Claire, gently touches her belly, and speaks to his unborn daughter:

“Wee-un. It’s your father. I canna wait to meet you.”

I CAN’T. CANNOT. NOPE. TOO PRECIOUS. TOO MUCH. MY WEE HEART JUST MELTED INTO A PUDDLE AND I AM DROWNING IN IT!

The love this man has for his bride and his bairn.

(Also I am not trying to objectify Sam; I just love this shared moment of intimacy and how handsome he looks ❤️)
