FRASER CUDDLES APPRECIATION POST
“One last thing: these were your mother’s. I ken she would want you to have them…Treasure them.”
This scene of Jamie is of unique importance and vulnerability.
It is a brief second in time where Jamie lifts the veil of strength for just a moment and right before our very eyes becomes a young boy again—the way he was the last time his own mother touched his cheek.
His face displays a particular grief—one unique to when he feels the sting of death. His eyes fill and darken. He looks innocent. He looks unguarded, unprotected. His pain is visible, palpable, and written all over his beloved face. He cannot hide his loss. He cannot hide what he no longer has.
He delicately holds a precious candlestick as if it were his own mother’s hand and calls it to be so: treasure. The woman who stands before him now is the only reminder of his mother that he has right now.
So he kisses her hand and we all know it is truly Ellen’s hand he blesses and holds tight.
“I told you I’d never leave you again.”
Thank Christ.
“I KNOW THAT LOOK ON YOUR FACE, JAMIE FRASER. YOU’RE IN LOVE.”
FAVORITE LINE. FEELS ALL OVER THE PLACE.
Tbh I was disappointed in episode 4. I loved seeing C and J about to embark on their domestic bliss. But nothing happened. *Still have high hopes for the rest of the season I.e. CLAIRE IN BREEKS AND BATH TIME KISSES*
Hello darling!!!
I genuinely appreciate your honesty—I know many didn’t enjoy episode 3. Personally, I liked it.
As viewers, we are completely allowed to acknowledge our grievances with the show. I certainly have before.
Being a fan does not mean we blindly ignore things we don’t prefer or take issue with in the show.
In some regards I see what you mean by “nothing happened”, but on the other hand I don’t. I think this episode was necessary for introducing Bree and Roger. Likewise, there were some beautiful moments with Jamie and Claire—and Jocasta!
But, I think we are all a bit anxious to get to Fraser’s Ridge, aye?
Oh my word—I am so ready for that bath scene. BLESS THE LAIRD. IT IS GOING TO BE AMAZING. AHHHHH.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts with me and I hope you enjoy episode 4!!!
