Introduction

I’m years late, but here I am!

Knowing about Mimi?

One is more likely to recognize the models or subject matters rather than the person behind her photos.  Her name isn’t exactly boldly labelled onto her works within magazines and can be easily skimmed over. She does have several family members that attend(ed) HPA though! Her eldest brother, Manabu Kumagae, is an alumni, formerly being a SHSL Fashion Forecaster, while her older sister, Meme Kumagae (or better known as her alias, Mari Kanou) is a SHSL Amekaji Model, who is in the process of graduating for her year. Mari Kanou is the best known out of the trio due to her commercial appearances, such as being featured in Popteen’s magazines or showcasing clothing on Cololulu’s website. On a side note, she also has a cousin who’s a SHSL American Football Player, but he doesn’t share a surname with the three. ...Yeah, that’s a lot of family in HPA, alright.

The three siblings share a blog called Choco-Beary, and it’s become popular due to its tellings of an aspiring model who aimed to break the beauty standards and other tidbits. Mimi’s photos are featured upon here!

If your character frequents the Shinjuku ward of Tokyo, they might spot Mimi with a camera in hand. It should be then noted that Mimi has a policy where she asks for permission first and foremost in regards to photographs. (If she happens to snap a picture first, she’ll definitely ask for permission, and if it’s not received, she’ll delete it on the spot.) That’s pretty much it.

Short summary? Mimi wouldn’t be all too recognizable, especially upon seeing her in person, since she focuses only on her craft than public appearance. Her family members, especially her sister, have a much larger public presence than she does.

this is a more serious post for mari. since y’know, i can’t think of much to say for myself. this turned out longer than i expected. but hurray for late night posts?

would you know her?

Mari’s been making her face known on media for a while now. If your character is interested in teen fashion, they might have seen her making various appearances in Popteen’s magazine or featuring clothes from Cocolulu. She’s been in commercials on television to promote Cocolulu, similar to this [cw: singing; poor audio], or during collaborations between Popteen and Cocolulu, she’s been in fashion shows for them as well. She’s also up to date with social media and can be found on a shared blog, Choco-Beary. She’s built up quite the growing fan base from her frequent posts.

A frequent wanderer of the streets of Harujuku? That or live around Shinjuku? Consider it more than likely to be pulled aside by Mari and be asked to take a selfie with her. She’s a big fan of meeting new people and likes to commemorate introductions with photos to remember them by. 

Or your OC may know her indirectly through her family. She has: 

A younger sister, Mimi Kumagai, who’s also attending HPA as SHSL Candid Photographer. She’s been known for asking permission from her peers to have their photographs taken. Her running theme for her pictures is joy, and she refuses to budge on that.

An older brother, Manabu Kumagai, who graduated recently and is now considered an alumni of HPA. He’s a former SHSL Fashion Forecaster and currently works with several companies, such as Tokyo Fashion, WGSN, F-Trend, and so forth.

The youngest and most famed of them all, Momo Kumagai, the SPSL Bear!!! Or Super Pre-School Level Bear if you prefer the longer variant. A totally legit thing. Yeap. Not at all made up to appease a small child who aspired to be like her older siblings. She got her talent for being the scariest bear ever. So frightening that she could scare away hiccups from people! RAWR! [ Just kidding. You wouldn’t actually know her, but Mari speaks very fondly of the little tyke. ]

Some cousin who’s an HPA attendee as well. Why are there so many family members from HPA? Who knows. Said cousin is some SHSL American Football Player or something. A Lowell kid or whatever from a team called the Chiba Hounds.

Bodvar’s Brew from @the-northern-herbalist. A black tea with dried cranberries and fir needles which smells amazing. It very much reminds me of being in the forest in the summer, when everywhere else is too hot but it’s nice and cool and dark in the trees, the sun bringing out the spicy scent of the pines and spruces.
