Lifting a car engine isn’t my idea of fun. Nor is not having been wearing shoes, and having been stepping on shards of glass the whole time while avoiding having my foot run over.
Someone send a war boy or something to teach me proper car stuff safety or some shit, because I ain’t smart about these things. On the bright side, I did figure out the lifty lowery bit of the thingy that picks up the engine pretty quickly. Can you tell I don’t know shit about cars.
Alright! I still owe a few little things, but I’m absolute rubbish, so I’m going to scamper off to go do things. Like packing skulls into boxes and figuring out where I can fit a few road signs.
‘Nightcrawler’ movie review. Spoilers, below, of course.
See, I woulda been doing replies and such if I wasn’t watching this. I’m gonna do a real super quick run down on my thoughts of this.
First of all, the vibe I get from this movie is very ‘Poor Mans American Psycho’ in a way, the main character very much so reminds me of a low key Patrick Bateman, right down to his facial expressions. This is generally a good thing for me, though at times it does throw off the feeling of originality in the film for me.
Secondly, the plot in the film likes to drift now and then. The plot between Lou and Nina goes from him selling her his film work, to him manipulating her into a sexual relationship. Something which we could have done without in the movie. I just didn’t see much of a point to this, because it hardly developed the plot more, imo. Frankly, I think it should have been left out completely, or given a bit more flesh on the bone.
Now, Rick. Lou’s partner in what might as well be crime. I liked his character, and wish there was more to him. The problem I had was right when his character was getting some really nice development, he’s killed off. Understandable, it makes sense to kill him off in a way, but eh. I will say that the way about the death did VERY well in shocking the viewers, and bringing in an emotional reaction. It was a very “what the fuck just happened?!” moment.
Along with this, Lou is taken in for questioning by the FBI. The FBI’s involvement is another plot point left far too unfleshed in the story, it’s a skin and bones type of thing. Along with the lack of meat on the bones here, the fact that Lou gets away so insanely easily to go on his merry way after the countless bits of evidence stacked against him ( and his terrible lying in that scene ) is another irritation for me.
Now, the movie was overall a good, original B film. It’s no A movie, but it’s something worth the watch. Which might seem odd for me to say considering the amount of complaints I have! But. Yeah.
