IN THE SOOP: BARDAGUL
✨✨✨✨✨ Spontaneous trips ARE THE BEST.
Last week, August 13-14, I had an overnight trip with my friends in Tagaytay City. It's been years since we've graduated from college and it's been years since we've been planning a road trip or an out-of-town trip but it never happens. It's all drawing, no color. (A Filipino term for something being planned but is never happening. LOL) Until finally, Nat and I decided to take matters in our own hands (BWAHAHA) and we planned our trip a week before our target date. Idk, I think just involving a lot of people can really make it difficult and it was much easier if we just ask the boys to pack their stuff because we're leaving. HEHE. Anyway, it was a short trip but I realized a lot of things. 1. Unplanned trips are great- until you realize that you're all adults and you have work and responsibilities.
Trips are easy to plan especially now that we are adults and we have the means to spend but timing is never easy. We have to consider our schedules and align them to make this trip work. Fortunately, Al had a weekend off from work (which is rare btw, because he works at a restaurant). We made sure that everything is clear, done, and that nothing will stop or delay us from our trip.
2. Money is (not) not an issue so it is better to be prepared.
Like I said, we all have jobs and we get paid but money can make or break your trip. BnB, gas, toll, and food allowance is prepared but the devil works hard and he'll really put something out there for you to spend your money on. (In our case, it's shoes. Why the devil you may ask? THE SHOES ARE ON 50% OFF SALE) But we were prepared. ~THANK GOD. HAHA
3. It doesn't matter where you go as long as you enjoy each other's company.
This was our first out-of-town trip so this goes to my core memory. Our plan was always to go somewhere far but we've decided to go somewhere near our home base and to take it slow. I enjoyed the trip and I know they did to. It was a time for us to rest, enjoy, and reset from our own worlds.
4. Having friends is truly a gift.
I've always been a social butterfly but I never really considered anyone as a bestfriend. Maybe before but... I don't know if they consider me as their bestfriend too. As an overthinker, and a pessimist, I fed my brain into thinking that my friends don't consider me as their friend anymore because we lost touch. (Is it weird?? Just me???) Because for me, calling someone a "bestfriend" means that you're both in each other's lives, there's constant communication, you see each other often, and I lost all those things when I entered college. Well, okay, that's a little exaggerated but I actually don't talk to a lot of people from my elementary and high school anymore. I still reach out and there are few that does too but.. anyway, not the point. I'm just glad that I met these people (refer the photo above) and they made me redefine the word "bestfriend". Because now, for me, a bestfriend is someone who is always there even when you don't talk always. A bestfriend will make time or will understand and support you in anyway then can when you're in shit or when you're not okay. A bestfriend is someone whom you'll be excited to share a moment with even when it's nonsense. And a bestfriend is someone who will ease your worries and sadness and will give you joy and warmth even just by their presence or even when they don't do anything (as long as you know that they're there).
I'm blessed enough to have these people in my life and I hope and pray that I don't loose them.

P.S. My title was inspired by the show In The Soop. Soop meaning forest in Korean. Errr, we actually didn't stay in the forest but we enjoyed nature during this trip. Lastly, Bardagul is a Filipino slang term for bully/bullies. We bully each other (in a healthy and non-violent way)
