So...I went to a pony con in Milwaukee over the weekend. It gave me a chance to do some sketches for myself and friends.

In the first row, there's @outofworkderpy and then the con mascot basically being my mouthpiece for the weekend.

The second row features a birthday card for a good friend, with his new waifu eating his cake. Tough break.

Then we have Twisted Sketch pone and a smiling Marigold to finish it out.

The best part of the weekend was seeing that people still remember who I was and still liked me, which is a major thing after the stressful year I've had.

And the good, lots of great restaurants.

Starlight has really grown on me as a good guy and she has really become one of my favorite characters, but even so she was still such a good villian. (Best villain so far imho) I wish they did more with her as a villian before the reformation. Such wasted potential.

I knoooooooow! I mean, I’ve definitely come to enjoy Friendlight Glimmer as well, ESPECIALLY any episode where her and Trixie are together, but it’s not the same thing, you know?

I’ve SEEN people actively complain about the sass Trixie and Starlight throw at each other, and it’s like “BUT THAT’S MY FAVORITE PART! IF YOU TOOK THAT AWAY THEY’D BE BRAIN DEAD BORING AND COMPLETELY UNLOVEABLE!”

My favorite part about Starlight being a friend is that you can still see WHY she became a villain in the first place! Those sociopathic tendencies are STILL THERE and she had to learn the hard way when the right time to use them was and wasn’t, in such a way that it’d be fun for her friends rather than a problem. And it’s so PERFECTLY illustrated with her relationship with Trixie!

But like, what if she DIDN’T have to be a good guy? what if she had just kept being a villain with that same level of snark, cynicism, and true cruelty she was known for at the start of Season 5? She was truly wonderfully brilliantly perfect!

This is why I don’t think I’ll ever be able to write Starlight as anything other than a villain, no matter HOW good the show writes her as a friend. Because in my heart and mind, there never will be a villain as good or better than she was, and the world of MLP NEEDS a villain like her. It just does!

Bronycon Stuffs! A couple of Art prints were picked up this year, as well as an assload of buttons, and a super epic piece by @outofworkderpy , who is super kind and chill and skilled, I mean look at that Tink, fuckin wonderful! Plus I got to a panel with a rather neat improv game (which I may or may not have somewhat pirated) Plus I got the sweet Mercy skin. Woot!

(IC mod: A post I got inspired to do when OoWD (@outofworkderpy posted this post.  I didn’t post it because a bunch of BS happened at work and I got sidetracked, sorry folks.  However here it is and I might be moving to a different position in which the manager who couldn’t back up their claims won’t be my manager any longer.  So hopefully things will be smoothing out soonish.

Anywho! Sorry for the small rant about work, here is a post! yay! =^_^=
