My mentors are good - great even but...why would they think I can do python when I've made it abundantly clear I know anything but? 😭😭😭 I don't want to fail but I feel kind of set up.

Desenvolvedores divulgam contribuições úteis para o kernel Linux
Na semana passada, no Open Source Summit Europe, na França, houve vários estagiários do Outreachy.

Perl + Bugzilla in Outreachy Round 13!
I am very proud to be mentoring in the 13th round of Outreachy.
We have a a list of ideas and a growing list of bugs that would make for good "small contributions".
I'm open to emails or irc discussions and I'll try to answer any and all questions.
email: dylan [at] mozilla [dot] com or join irc.mozilla.org #bugzilla, I'm in IRC from 13:00 UTC until about 22:00 UTC.
Here's are project blurb:
Perl is a highly capable, feature-rich programming language with over 28 years of development, making it one of the longest standing FOSS projects. The Perl Foundation is funding a position working on Bugzilla, a widely used, Perl-based issue tracker. In 18 years of development, Bugzilla has grown into a complex application that is used in many different workflows by organizations including Mozilla, the GNOME Project, Red Hat, and freedesktop.org. Some of this complexity is particularly evident in the search functionality, both in implementation and in user interface. We have several proposals to simplify and improve searching, which will positively impact Bugzilla sites around the world.
I'm getting so close to having VLC compiled (so I can apply to Outreachy)... I've been wrestling with it over the last 3 days... first, I was accidentally following the outdated guide, then I kept running into an error that turned out to have a rather simple solution. I should have asked on IRC - it would have saved me *Hours* of removing & reinstalling my whole dev environment & the source code...
Now I'm at the stage of actually Making the build, and I'm running into a new error ... I'm utterly depleted though, so it's time to put this down for a bit & get to the other things I need to work on.
It's been a fucking challenge, but I've been persistent - and I've learned a ton in the process & I'm so grateful for that :D
I couldn't have gotten here 6 months ago - or even 2 months ago & I'm really proud of myself for how far I've come along
Current Coding Projects
Current Coding Projects: 1. Working on a Code Test 2. Learning jQuery (and javascript) so I can do my best to get into that internship 3. Working on building VLC Media Player on my computer so I can contribute & apply to Outreachy
Status: 1. I'm stuck & have been considering jumping over to the front-end test (this aligns well with #2 - as long as I finish one of them *soon*.) 2. I'm really enjoying learning a new language ... boy do I have to keep up the pace tho!! 3. Damn am I in over my head, but VLC's Wiki is fairly wonderful (I'd give it an 8/10) & I'm learning a ton!
The VLC project I want to work on is the Personal Cloud Project. Which means I need HTML & javascript, and possibly (I'm gonna say probably) C ... I don't know C, but I did teach myself some C & C++ in high school, and at this point, there's no reason I can't pick it up quickly if necessary
VideoLAN Wiki
Thoughts:
There are some parts where VLC's Wiki just really needs some additional information. There's also 1 or 2 typos (which I was able to work around, but someone else might get stumped by)
Debian's List of Projects was initially a bit better in content, but much worse in Visual Presentation. So I'd give it a 7/10.
I chose VLC, because I can stick with Windows (which I'm most comfortable using right now & I've done all of my development work on - cuz it's what I own)
The VideoLAN & Debian guides are the only accessible guides I've found so far (GNOME’s was ok).
One thing I like about VLC is that it has a handful of Mini Projects listed that might be good for someone just looking to dip their feet into the water
