"Days passing"
boo
28. still not dark
.
i kinda like it when the trees are bare don't you? i feel there's more room for our prayers and truth it's harder to tell right from wrong when the light doesn't get through and with all that spring green, that opaque ceiling the sky is blocked out and i can't breathe no more and time forces its way out of fragile boughs danger and sap crawl through my veins and bones too thick and too sweet — suffocating it might be the end of winter but it still tastes like an ending still solidifies into nothing the seasons change and look at that outside my window it's still not dark still not down, still not faltering the sun keeps up with our meanderings i don't remember the birds chirping so loud i must've been asleep last time i must've been asleep last time. • through-the-motions (poem + photo) • for @writerscreed 's prompt "outside my window" •
Outside My Window
I used to think
everything was different
outside my window
grass was greener
life was freer
where the world rushed by
and I
frozen
strapped into the backseat of the car.
But when I
finally explored the world
pressed pause on the blur that
rushed past me,
I could finally see
it’s not all green
underneath every bright blade of grass
is brown earth that didn’t ask
to be uncovered.
Animals raised in captivity
acclimate with difficulty
to their true environment.
But I will acclimate
I will take the dirt under the flowers
I’ll learn to live here
in the strange, wild world I found
outside my window.
Outside my window...
Fear lies dormant
waiting
to engulf anyone
who dares wake her with
their sensationalism
or hysteria.
I’m feeling a bit under the weather today. Allergies? My hubbies cold? I dunno 🤔 but, I still managed to get a rough start on these during Aylas nap today. The owls are back. The windows have been opened at night this week, and I’ve been hearing them singing at night. So glad I can still hear them! My neighbor cut down a big tree that was right outside my window, so I wasn’t sure I’d hear them anymore 🦉 . . . . #owls #owljewelry #jewelry #naturejewelry #urbannature #outsidemywindow #theowlsarenotwhattheyseem #comingsoon #wip #onmybench #bronze #silverowls #owl #totem #talisman
