My most important and by far toughest job is being a father. If anybody is unqualified, it’s me at times. Hell, in many areas, I’m still a child myself. However, I want my kids to be able to view this world from a variety of lenses, but I guess it all starts with investigating what lies before them in the mirror. We are starting to have more serious conversations about history, politics and social issues. In talking to them, it’s forcing me to dig deeper and learn more myself. When it comes to being Polish, I want them to love and celebrate that. When it comes to being black, I want them to do the same without any shame or regret. When they come across other cultures and people groups I want them to be inclusive and willing to learn even if they don’t agree with all things at all times. I guess that’s where love begins. I can’t love you if I don’t truly love what lies in the mirror. I’m preparing myself for the day when my son may encounter a cop and how he should handle it. I’ve already had ongoing talks with my little girl as she wishes she had straight hair and not curly locks. Once again, I’m back to my original statement: my toughest job is being a very flawed man responsible for parenting two impressionable souls. So many questions. Some answers. 🇺🇸👨👧👦 #younggiftedandblack #thisisamerica #dadlife #outsideourdoor #coldcoldworld #love #history #proudofwhoyouare #knowthyself #blackhistoryisworldhistory https://www.instagram.com/p/BudxgMYA8xFo_xFVAAGkOV84El-f-lLtJrhFTQ0/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=dfxke8v8iyud
