7. What is your deepest joy about writing?

i work a very soulless bloodless corporate job, absolutely pointless in every conceivable way. it does not spark any joy whatsoever. sometimes when i'm sitting in a meeting listening to corporate jargon it feels like i have died and am watching the scene from outside of my body. being able to create something that actually brings me joy and that other people read and enjoy makes me remember why i'm alive lol not to be dramatic

32. What is a line from a poem/novel/fanfic etc that you return to from time and time again? How did you find it? What does it mean to you?

i really liked normal people by sally rooney like more than should be possible for someone to like anything, to me this book reached into what i’m always trying to convey and lifted it right out of my body, the stream of consciousness of it, the mundanity of life and love and feeling, could rant about it forever but this little snippet is something that influences by own writing and also something i’ve just felt in my own life, how you can be nostalgic for something while it’s happening, as if anticipating its loss and letting that anticipation ruin your life:

Her eyes fill up with tears again and she closes them. Even in memory she will find this moment unbearably intense, and she's aware of this now, while it's happening. She has never believed herself fit to be loved by any person. But now she has a new life, of which this is the first moment, and even after many years have passed she will still think: Yes, that was it, the beginning of my life.
