Luigi's mansion 3 thoughts
What was with that invitation that polterpup had in the opening? I realize that Mario really more works on the star system where you have a baseline understanding of the character and their roles but who they are and their circumstances change for the need from scenario scenario. Much like say the Looney Tunes. You know basically who Daffy Duck and Bugs Bunny are but what their exact circumstances and how they relate to each other are really just set up for that one off episode with a broadly understood Baseline. Daffy's generally going to be jealous and or having issue with bugs. Bugs and Porky will likely be friends with bugs being something of a wiseacre either leading or maybe ragging on him but not too hard
Well this opening has the Mario Brothers in an interesting setup. Wolley and yvan are back if they're kind of characterized as young kids and then later servants. We have the generic toad and he seems more of a hapless put-upon I don't know actual concierge or retainer? And then we have Mario and Peach very much as if they were a couple. The mama and the papa of the group which just makes me think what their relationship is in light of Odysseys ending. Is this like I mean is Goofy old Nintendo going to be like it's okay for two people to date and kind of have kids and do all this couple stuff but never ever marry because that's not the kind of relationship they want and will make things work?
In light of this I'm also thinking what it means for Luigi to be on what seems to be a very couple sort of vacation? where he seems frame to be alone aside from his spectral puppy and what was that piece of paper in the dog's mouth that he read. The reaction seems like affection so I thought it might be an invite to the mansion towards someone he was interested in. Given how it was signed "DS" it's possible that he and Daisy are still meant to be an item and that's her initials Daisy Sarasala(sp?)
Seeing as the lure to the mansion is a trap that doesn't seem quite so likely and from the way it's framed it's like he's a Tagalog. So likely this entire trip is it being caused by Luigi as has been set up in previous 2 games.
Actually now that I think about it it's not so much the trip is for couples so much as the framing of the trip is like it's for couples since we see Mario and Peach up front and they're relating to each other and they're not quite romantic not quite just friends sort of dynamic. Then we see Yvan and Wolley. Then we see Luigi alone only to be joined by the ghost dog.
Not sure how I feel about him freaking out about the appearance because that couldn't have been a surprise to him and give him the later affection it seems odd that he be scared of his own dog appearing when he kind of summoned him
Want to know what's funny about all this? I probably want the equivalent of this game without the ghostbusting. Note seriously we just go on a vacation with Peach Mario and Luigi maybe they get into some wacky Antics but there's no need to save them from portraits or anything like that.

So I’ve been listening to the KH sountracks, and—
Riku’s theme song feels like anxiety, which is what I think Riku is, really—someone full of nervous energy, of guilty, antsy skin, of stiff shoulders and the fear of doing wrong.
Which is what makes his arc so tragic, i think— because he doesn’t know that he’s wrong, and all he wants is to protect his friends, and in that sense, he’s just as naive as Sora, really. It could have easily been the other way around—if Sora had met the villains first, and Riku the heroes, would they have still done everything in their power to save Kairi? Of course they would have. And if that had meant Sora using darkness as a tool (because before the destruction of their islands, they had no knowledge of light or dark, nor the properties they possessed), then you know he would have. Not because he is evil, but because he *isn’t* evil. And would Riku have succumbed to the darkness with Goofy and Donald and Micky by his side? I doubt it. Sure, there are some elements that would be different due ti their personalities, but honestly I think Riku is just a nice boy who got dealt a shitty hand and deserves all of the goodness in the world now. That is all. Rant/analysis over.
