Oddities surrounding Odile (an @askoverkill theory about the Director's wish)
I looked at all the mirror pictures again, and I noticed something strange about Odile: she's the only one who doesn't change at all in them.
Mira gets new earrings (teardrops, unlike the ones she had in isat), and she has different hairstyles in some. Isa has rectangular earrings in some, and loops in others. Bonnie doesn't have many visible changes due to their position, but they do have a bandaid in one of the pictures. Meanwhile, aside from her expression, Odile is the exact same as in the picture with Loop.
That's also the case in the mirror world: Bonnie has a different shirt, Mira still has teardrop earrings and even a different change ornament than she had in isat (2 dots per change symbol instead of a dot and teardrop shape per symbol). Isa also still has loop earrings instead of rectangular ones. Meanwhile, Odile still has no visible change: not with her glasses, the darker patches of her coat, the shape of her collar or sleeves or her hairstyle.
That's not the only thing in which Odile is the odd one out: we've also had several instances where Odile is different from the rest of the party in a significant way.
This one could just be due to the different circumstances in Dawn's world, but I find it interesting that Odile is the only party member whose forge question had a different answer than expected. And while everyone is wearing different clothes (most of them are wearing protective clothing, including gloves, which would reduce the chance of having superficial wounds), Odile is the only one to have a different haircut.
There's also the matter of the Twoie incident: why was doodle Odile the only one with a face completely obscured due to the distortions? Why was she the only one with a different font? Doodle Odile also seemed to be the most aggressive towards the Director, with her calling fae a murderer while doodle Mira only seemed worried about Twoie.
Then, there's one more instance I had completely forgotten about before rereading: Odile was singled out by the Change God.
We know the Change God can feel strongly about people (see their love for Mira in isat and hatred for Dawn because he's a Siffrin) But why did the Change God feel so strongly about Odile that they kissed her during their first meeting, and that they greeted her separately when they appeared in the first loop?
So, something is definitely up with Odile when it comes to the outer loops and the image the Director has of her. Whatever this is, it must be related to what happened to the Director before fae made a wish, if not to the wish itself.
So, what happened to make stardust become the Director?
Well, to start off, the Director most likely went through the Bigfrin fight: ze doesn't have a hat on the frames where ze looks like Siffrin after all. We also know the Director likely viewed herself as a twist villain of sorts, as they told Dawn during the date, which would imply that the Bigfrin fight ended badly.
Another thing of note is that during the Twoie incident, doodle Odile says that she and the Director/Stardust were never friends. This is especially important because of one detail of the Bigfrin fight: Odile's first response at the time is to attack Stardust. Of course, Stardust immediately internalizes the event, and thinks that Odile never saw him as a friend.
Depending on how much fae internalized that "we don't attack friends", they might have only targeted Odile during the fight.
That outcome seems especially likely given how Stardust tends to react to confrontation. In the sus quest, whenever Loop goes on a topic Stardust doesn't like, and during Odile's and Isa's failed friendquests, Stardust lashed out in response. They either started shouting at them to shut up, or used topics he knew would impact them so they would leave the confrontation be.
During the Bigfrin fight, we don't have any other option but to fight, or attack yourself. If Stardust felt cornered, they very well could have started attacking the party, or more specifically whoever was the most confrontational.
In that fight, Odile is the one leading the conversation about the time loops. She's also the one who stopped Stardust from escaping the situation as they used to do before, by stopping him from looping back somehow. When that happens, Siffrin's battle portrait starts looking frightened.
I think it's very likely that Stardust killed Odile after she stopped them from looping back.
Doodle Odile seems to imply that whatever happened was reversable, but I'm not so sure myself. At the time, Stardust was severely Craft exhausted, and in canon isat, Odile even mentions that Siffrin likely doesn't have enough energy to use Time Craft again.
Maybe after that happened, the Director wished to face some sort of retribution for what xe had done. I think the current situation would fit with that kind of wish, at least when it comes to the Director's role in the story.
When Loop wished for help, they became the help another version of them needed. But, at the same time, said other version became their help by going through the House in their stead. If the Director wished for some sort of retribution for becoming the villain of the story, they could have been given the opportunity to give said retribution to another version of them as they wish, all while being seen as a villain by the entire party and having them try their hardest at killing them.
Also, maybe part of the Director's wish involved making sure Odile specifically would be back how she used to be, which made it less likely for her to be impacted by the butterfly effect?
Then, there's the comicfury version of overkill: this one made some changes in loop 0 for now, which includes redesigns of some rooms. Notably, the hallway leading to the storage room and the darts game now has paintings on the wall, including this one.
I think this painting of Mira, Bonnie and Isa looking down at a clearly injured Odile on the roof paints a pretty clear picture of what happened.
