Honestly the end of Overlord Protocol remains endlessly funny. Nero is like okay, Cypher. Why did you even do any of that. And Cypher is like, I needed Wing's amulet and the school to launch a full-fledged attack on number one because he is trying to revive Overlord. And Nero is like wtf that's soooo bad I had no idea. And Cypher is like woah okay I totally thought you were in on this. I guess this has been a huge miscommunication. Nero is like omg i guess so! And cypher is like, Anyways I mostly just want to make sure Overlord stays dead and that my son stays safe. And Nero is like well I am really happy to help on both counts. Cypher squeezed his eyes shut behind his mask, where he could really show how he felt. He opened them again and breathed out.

“I’ll die trying.”

He switched the gun and pointed it at Wing, his own son. This isn’t real, he reminded himself. Everyone will be better off for it. Still, it didn’t hurt any less when he watched his only son crumple to the ground like a puppet with its strings cut. He turned away and let a single unseen tear roll down his face.

It was time to leave.
