Mile 12. We are almost there. But, this mile goes out to Terry Lewis. A paramedic who saved lives and could have saved even more. It's tragic to lose people. First responders, veterans... our dear friends. This is why we walk. To inspire others to stay strong and keep going. But also to remember and mourn the lives that were cut short. It's mile 11. Remember? Last year I had to call it quits due to my ankle giving out. But a year later, I'm stronger than ever. I feel pumped. I feel able to finish the entire walk- and in record time! Sometimes we fail at things that are important to us. And it feels like we should give up and never try again. But, if you take time to heal. Take time to learn and grow you'll find that you can not only succeed but flourish. Mental health is the same way. So please don't give up. You will be so much better. My goal was to walk at about a 2mph pace. That meant getting to mile 10 by 1am. I'm beating that into the ground! Actually, everyone is. We're all so excited to be together and bond over shared experiences. It's so good to talk about suicide and the people you've lost. A moving journey.
