HM section of books i seriously considered for this: wicked by maguire, the martian by andy weir, homestuck which i probably would've included but i feel like it doesn't count, the storm before the storm by mike duncan, artemis fowl book 8

10. i know we all hate john green here but i really like paper towns. lots of it is fun (i always love anything with large chunks of explanation of preparation, this also explains my love for survival books like the martian or, when i was a kid, hatchet) and also i think it actually gets its themes pretty correct though i've heard the movie butchered the whole thing

12. no! i know you expected me to say catcher in the rye but i was never actually assigned it. i don't think i even finished a single book i was assigned in high school.

19. lord of the rings. the hobbit was O K but lotr was a misery to try to sit through. harry potter obviously has deep flaws but as an ex HP kid my relationship with it is more complicated. also could not get into any king book other than the stand
