Do you think 1 betta, 2 mystery snails, and 5 ghost shrimp are too much for a 10 gallon tank?
Space wise? i dont think so :pBioload wise? possibly…it really depends on how much filter media you have and what your parameters are!
if your parameters are 0 ammonia, 0 nitrite, max 20-40ppm nitrates after 7 days, I’d say you’re at max capacity. if you hit 20ppm nitrates after 7 days, I’d recommend upping water changes to 2x a week. if you’re hitting 40ppm nitrates after 7 days, youd have to do water changes 2-3 times a week to keep up with nitrates. ideally your nitrates should stay under 20ppm at all times, but 40ppm is the upper upper limit for hardier species. if your nitrates are higher than 40ppm and no matter how many wc you do/you’re willing to do you can’t get them under 40, then i’d say you’re overstocked in terms of bioload.
If you dont have any live plants / are intimidated by live plants, I suggest investing in some anacharis since it grows pretty fast and is super undemanding! because it grows fast, it should absorb ammonia/nitrite/nitrate pretty fast :p anubias is also pretty undemanding and frogbit is amazing at soaking up nitrates :)
If you dont know your water parameters, i’d highly recommend investing in a test kit! grab whatevers available for now (test strips should work okay) and then when you can, get a liquid test kit :) they last waaay longer and are much more accurate!
hopefully that helped you out some anon! if you have any other questions, feel free to send me a message or another ask :)
