Shrimp tank

my boy Theo got a revamped tank ♥ this time featuring new plants!!
plants are Anubias Nana, Java Moss, Marimo Moss Ball, and Anacharis!
I upgraded the water garden. I wanted too many plants lol. This is before I put the water in. I have: ludwigia red, crypt wendtii, dwarf hairgrass, dwarf baby tears, anacharis, telanthera, anubias nana, and water wisteria. The Petco that just opened by my house was having a sale and I may have gotten a wee bit carried away. O_o I got a cute surprise while I was replanting too - my ludwigia red had a tiny baby that produced roots. I put it in front of the wisteria, next to the crypts, on the far right. I hope it grows. I need to buy a proper cover since I know the cats will get in there. I also want another anacharis bunch (because they were too tall for the jar but now they're too short for the tank!) and a new bunch of dwarf baby tears. They're my favorite of the green plants. They're so cute. AND a banana plant. I like them. I'm trying to be low maintenance with this tank but I know plants need STUFF. They have CO2 and fertilizer. I rigged a temporary lighting system (took the lights from my 10 gallon and attached them to the temporary hood I'm using to keep the cats out). I'd like to get a good but cheap filter too. I can't get the filter or proper hood until next week because adulting sucks up my monies. :(
Watch my big strong snail fall off the driftwood!
The shiny boy demands I clean up this hair algae! (there's just this one sizeable clump lol I've got anacharis trimming and clean up to do my boy!)
Hey, stocking anon here. Thank you for your advice! I haven't really been brave enough to try live plants yet. I don't know where I can get some frogbit, but I would definitely do so when I find some. Unfortunately, I do know that anacharis is banned in my state, so that's not a possible solution.
hi there anon :p youre welcome!
I’m glad you checked about the anacharis! some floating plants might be illegal where you live too, so check about the frogbit!
you can try buying plants online, looking for local sellers, look for pond-related store (sometimes they have plants that you can fit in your aquarium (or on the surface of it!), or seeing if your local lfs/lps can order some in for you :) You can also try duckweed (everyone says its a plague but so far i’m kinda loving it lol), java moss, java ferns, banana plants, and moss balls! :)
