Oh geez. Probably L. M. Montgomery. I've read all the Anne books, all the Emily books, the Pat books, most of the short story anthologies, and her autobiography. 

C. Currently Reading

I'm in the middle of reading the How to Train Your Dragon series- or rather listening to the audiobooks on my way to and from work. I just finished How to Ride a Dragon's Storm, and I was VERY VERY EMOTIONAL ABOUT IT. My baby Hiccup was kidnapped! And given the slavemark! And knocked unconscious! Also Toothless is an adorable asshole.

H. Hidden Gem Book

Not enough people have read Human Croquet by Kate Atkinson. It's such an absorbing mindfuck. It's the kind of book that I finished reading, and then immediately went back to page one and started over again to catch everything I didn't see the first time.

The Artemis Fowl series by Eoin Colfer. That series is fantastic and deserves so much more love.

I fill my Kindle with books...and then it just never seems like the right time to read them. So I read the same things over and over and over again.

if you could give your younger self advice/talk to them, what would you tell them?

To my 10 year old self: Be kind to your family, they are the ones that will always be there for you. You shouldn’t feel embarrassed to be out in public with them.  To my 16 year old self: Do what you love! Don’t let your insecurities hold you back. I was such a hermit in high school and I really regret it now. I wish I had gotten more involved.

so i'm super intrigued at the people that have added what they think #4 should be on your list of things that shouldn't be read romantically (which i agree with btw) and i kind of wondered what you thought about what some of the 'additions' were?

I feel like it’s really a never-ending list. Those were just three books that were sitting on my bookshelf. I’ve been thinking about the Lolita thing for a while though (thanks Homeless Ben), and Gatsby seemed timely.

But you did not ask about this. You asked about #4s. A lot of people have added Wuthering Heights which I only 50% agree with. (I feel like you told me you haven’t read this so I’ll explain) Most film adaptations only show the first half, which I think is more romanticizable(?) because most of the deplorable stuff happens in the second half. So it’s better to romanticize the films than the novel because the novel is not okay.

A handful of people have also said Jane Eyre, but I’ve never read that so you’ll have to give me you opinion.

They said the Hunger Games a lot too. That’s kind of a hard one for me because the narrative itself is critical of the environment/government/characters. I think I would have to see HOW people were romanticizing it. I feel like those people were thinking more along the lines of “This isn’t a love story but that’s how the movies are making it.” But I don’t know.

Some people said John Green books. I’ve only read one and a half of his books, but so far I’d not advise reading them romantically.

Someone said 500 Days of Summer and I 1000% agree.
