Reposted from @ufwf - #BREAKING The #Fairness4FarmworkersAct was introduced TODAY! Si Se Puede! When the Fair Labor Standards Act was passed in 1938, it improved life for most workers by guaranteeing the right to overtime pay and the minimum wage. But the FLSA fell victim to Jim Crow era discrimination and EXCLUDED farmworkers from its protections & this exclusion affects farm workers today. We say 80 years of exclusion from overtime wage is ENOUGH! This proposed Act would remove #farmworker exclusion from the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) of 1938. Just as the California legislation, it will phase-in overtime pay over a period of four years. Our nation’s 2.5 million farm workers deserve the Fairness for Farmworkers Act NOW! #Overtime4Farmworkers #WeFeedYou - #regrann https://www.instagram.com/p/BtmhQ2UnLAqdWzErYEyvE6hOs4kz1OTQ1HoCD80/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1kdvitrrf0xzl
